Tyres worn out after only 8000 miles.
Tyres worn out after only 8000 miles.
Had the car in for an MOT today. It passed but I am going to need 4 tyres soon. I only fitted Falkens 8000 miles ago an they're worn out. Not scrubbing or anything just worn to the wear bars. Anyone else found these dont last and can anyone else recommend a tyre that wont wear out so quickly ?

Personally I fit Pilot Sport 4 S. I can't vouch for their durability, particularly since we all have different driving styles.

+1 to the above.
Great tyres. On my third set.
I get about two years at approx 8k miles per year.
Depending on how I drive.

Most performance cars Ive owned get around that sort of mileage from the tyres, maybe up to 10k. As long as they’ve worn evenly I wouldn’t be too worried.
Re: Tyres worn out after only 8000 miles.
I have Uniroyal Rainsports on mine. Went on when I first had the car. 10k later and they still have plenty of tread left. Will have to change them due to age not wear as they're now getting on for 7 years old.
I've had falkens before and they last a decent time. Were they really low on tread to start? Some tyres now seem to come with all of 6.5mm instead of the usual 8mm. Keeps costs down but they wear out a lot sooner.

I don't really understand why anyone would put anything other than PS4S on the RS6.
Daytona RS6 C5 Avant. Viper'd, Billies, Waggers, MTM box brain, C6 stoppers, xcarlink, R8 coolant cap (woohoo)
///M3 E46 | XC90 (V8, natch) | Passat GTE | RR Classic V8 flapper

I am with you Ben on this one. Great tyres. I wouldn’t fit anything else while they are available.
Re: Tyres worn out after only 8000 miles.
My experience of Michelins is that they crack and craze after a few years so I don't fit them on anything I'm keeping more than another 18 months or won't wear them out within 3 years if I am. I've seen it too many times.
Re: Tyres worn out after only 8000 miles.
Yes, I have seen this on Michelins and other brands. However, they don't do this if the car is kept inside. I changed the PS2 on mine after about 6 years and other than the pothole damage to them, they looked new.
One thing I have never had on Michelins is deformed tyres. I had to replace the recent Contis on the Passat because of that. Thought it was a wheel bearing at first. Also had that on Bridgestones (they don't like the car sitting long periods). Other brands, too, but I forget which.

I've not had deformed tyres with any brand so far fortunately (kiss of death)

Two years with mine, some of which the car spent outside. No signs of cracks yet. Fingers crossed.
Re: Tyres worn out after only 8000 miles.
The winter Nokian's probably done about 10k miles and still on 6mm!
Michelin PSS on MiniSD lasted twice as long and far superior to original fit.
Also over 20K miles on PSS on BMW 140, incl 2 track days.
Friend has Michelin Cup2 on 420 hp Lotus, little wear in 2K miles incl 3 track days ( but DS2500 brake pads nearly gone)
Michelin tyres outstanding!
