Lambda sensors

Post by Gazzaton » Tue Oct 12, 2021 10:22 am

Apologies if this has been hashed to death already.

Car starts OK, but between roughly 1500-3000rpm it's hesitant, and lacking power, unless I put the foot down.

Local mechanic pulled these error codes.

Does this indicate faulty sensors, or could it be something else?

You’ve got at least an issue with the downstream O2 sensor on the passenger side of the car. The B1S1 error may be from the issue with the downstream sensor. So, you’ve got two options either replace both downstream sensors (Sensible to replace them in pairs) and see if the B1S1 error goes away or just avoid faffing around and and replace all 4 sensors.

It’s a bitter pill to swallow but do yourself a favour and just replace all 4. Removal of the DP’s is a b!tch of a job and getting at the connector block where the sensors connect into the main loom, requires dropping the cross brace. Also, get either genuine VAG or Bosch sensors. You do not want to have to go back in after the fact and do this job any more, than you have to.

Thanks for the info Kenny.

I'm assuming all 4 sensors are the same part number?

Had a look on Eurocarparts, there are two different Bosch ones?

No, they’re not the same part number. I’ll have a look and post the numbers laters.

Here you go..VAG part numbers

Pre-cat sensors, both-1K0998262AA

Post-cat, passenger side-022906262BQ
Post-cat drivers side-022906262BM

Also, I misspoke when I said it was the pax side of the car. B1 is drivers side and B2 is pax side, on a U.K. car.
