Blue engine light when you turn on vehicle
New RS4 owner here. Obviously the blue engine symbol indicates the engine is still cold… once the light goes off does it mean the engine is warm enough for aggressive acceleration? Or do you need to wait longer until engine temperature hits 70-90degrees?
Re: Blue engine light when you turn on vehicle
Personally I tend to look at the oil temperature not the water. I usually wait until the oil is up at 100 degrees before giving any real hard acceleration. (B8 RS4, but shouldn't make any difference)
Congrats on the new car, enjoy

Possible change on the very latest cars? photo seems to be a Sept 2021 car (My 2018 car doesn't have any blue light)
I think oil temp is more important (as has been said).

Re: Blue engine light when you turn on vehicle
Will upload a pic of it shortly, cant find one anywhere online. I figured it was referring to oil temp (not water). It turns off after about 5 mins of driving.

Coming from a long line of BMWs, I like the fact you can see the water and oil temps.

Re: Blue engine light when you turn on vehicle
Pre facelift B9 owner here, so no blue light.
Out of curiosity, for the OP.. at roughly what oil temp have you noticed the blue light go off? Would be interested to see what point Audi thinks that the oil temp is sufficient.
Like others have said.. I tend to wait until oil temp is at least 80 deg before being 'more enthusiastic' but my oil temp typically doesn't register anything on the gauge until around 60 deg.

Re: Blue engine light when you turn on vehicle
The light goes off after around 5mins of light driving. So I'd say around 10deg. However i'm not sure whether that actually indicates the oil temp is sufficient to drive without precaution. 10 deg seems very low... but maybe the engine is designed to operate fully at low oil temp. if not, then the light is quite misleading.partymonkey wrote: ↑Thu Sep 30, 2021 9:48 amPre facelift B9 owner here, so no blue light.

If anyone knows what the light officially indicates id love to know....

Re: Blue engine light when you turn on vehicle
^^ Cheers... I guess it would probably say something about it in the warning lights section of the manual? No reference to the light in mine but wasn't expecting there to be.
Congrats on the car btw!

My 2020 rs4 doesn't have this light in the manual. On the my audi app under literature, which manual do you have?
