MRC Tuning

Post by Rich_C » Thu Feb 02, 2006 9:54 pm

Gents,

I'm currently contemplating having a stage 3 conversion done on my RS6. I'm quite interested in what MRC Tuning have to offer. Can anybody who knows the company or has had work done by them give me some feedback as to what they're like, quality of work, facilities, etc (in non-liablous terms of course)

Many thanks,

Rich.

A lot of the S4 owners have had their motors remapped by MRC. Based on my experiences I cannot speak highly enough of them. I am going to get my Stage2/3 conversion done by them.

They have new facilites over in Banbury Currently they have a four poster ramp and all the usual tools you would expect. I reckon there is enough space in the unit to store 6-8 motors. I think a rolling road is pending shortly and there will be no expense spared on that by all accounts.

They are really approachable and helpful chaps and they know their stuff.

Agreed, they are top notch and have diagnosed and fixed problems other outfits have been unable to find.

10/10 for customer service too.

Yep, I can vouch for them knowing their stuff! Minhea and Doug have a wealth of experience between them. Both top guys.
I drive from Edinburgh to go see em what does that tell you? Agreed Facilities are very nice....
Cheers.

12/10 - they are top and friendly and do it because they love the cars and job - not because it pays the bills...

They are few people I would leave my car with, they in the small list... :notworthy:

Going on Monday to have my RS4 Stage III remap, so will let you know my thoughts.

I breifly drove the car with new downpipes and test pipes today at my local garage -(they do all the mechanical work on my car) it felt very very fast so I am looking forward to see what MRC can do. I will pick it up from the garage on Monday morning and drive it straight to MRC. I am going there because the car is currently running REVO code and I want a custom map that will get the most out of the car without stressing the engine to much (car has 166K on the clock) and I do not know any other tuning outfit that would be able to do this for me in the UK.

They're blinders Rich but eat too much pizza. It's almost like comparing a lapdance at Spearmints and then experiencing the real thing in Prague..!

I love Eastern Europe. :biggrin3:

Thanks for your opinions guys. MRC sound like top blokes ... which in a way is going to make my decision as to which way to jump (AMD or MRC) even more difficult.

Tomson - I'd appreciate your thoughts after you've been to see them on Monday.

Thanks to all.

Rich.

If so on what grounds?

Only have good things to say about MRC, couldn't have been more helpful. I had my RS6 custom mapped and miltek cat back done and am very impressed, bascially the same as MTM etc but alot cheaper. MRC have also helped my brother out with his Audi TT and the service was excellent. No intention on taking my car anywhere else for any kind of work on it.

Lee,

Thanks for posting ... I was hoping an RS6 owner who has had work done by MRC would voice his thoughts. What do you think of the upgrade compared to standard. Are you happy with the work MRC did? What exactly did they do in terms of the custom map?

Sorry for all the questions.

Rich.

Rich

I think the difference between standard and map and Miltek Cat Back is huge, above this the difference is going to be small and nowhere near as noticable. You will instantly notice the power and torque difference, mine is still accelerating hard at 170mph (private roads are very short you know, not long enough to test top speed). I am very happy with the work done and would happily recommend them to anyone. As regards custom mapping, its best to talk to Doug or Minhea, but basically it is mapped to you and the car exactly.

Hope this helps.

Lee,

Once again thanks for posting - I believe a lot in personal recommendations so I'm pleased to read your happy with the work MRC have done for you. Defo making it a tricky decision ... I guess it's good that there's so many competent tuning houses out there so that we actually have a choice.

Rich,

Sorry I did not get back to you about my trip to MRC. Nothing I can say that has not been said before, really pleased with service, price and results. I posted more on the 'MRC are getting their dusters out' thread.

However, I do have one complaint about them though. They had no milk, and only one cup!
