TO STOP OR NOT TO STOP??? That is the Question!
TO STOP OR NOT TO STOP??? That is the Question!
Knowing what absolute dregs traffic police are like, if confronted with a situation where they have clocked your speed at over a ton and they now lauch off their side ramp on the motorway, bee lining for your car to give you a fine and ban you, it is late at night and the roads are clear, what would be your next course of action? Do you pull over and accept fate........or knowing that you have a much more powerful car, make them eat dust?

You may outrun the traffic car but you will trouble to outrun a helicopter. They are unlikely to launch this for a car chase alone but if its in the air already, they will use it.
There are loads of ways to reduce your risk of getting caught if you feel the need to speed excessively....trying to be politically correct here..!

Is this anything to do with your 175mph run...?

If you are a good boy and pull over there is always the slightest of chances you will get away with it - depends on conditions, traffic, time of day and the side of the bed the police have got out of. Extreme humbleness won't go amiss either - providng you weren't caught doing 175mph of course.
Rob is correct - you can't outrun the helicopter.
If you don't stop then you could find yourself in a small chalet at the expense of her majesty's pleasure, plus a long ban and fine. But take heart your car will still look like it's going 175mph in the driveway.
There are certain things you should observe when you are pulled over so you don't incriminate yourself - but I suggest you go to http://www.pepipoo.com for further details.
Is there the slightest possibility you have been caught speeding recently?

Slow down to legal limit and stop when requested. Stay in car. Don't say anything to incriminate yourself (obvious stuff really). Dont show them your licence even if you've got it on you (can be seen as an admission of guilt) - just take a HORT1 (known as a horty or producer). If you do get a summons or expect to then contact a really good lawyer - like that Franklin chap who gets the footballers off. There are so many loopholes in the law that you stand a good chance of being found not guilty or minimising the impact. Have a gander at the manual you often see advertised in the motoring press "UK Driving Secrets"...bit of an eye opener.
Thats what I would do anyway!

I'm happy to advise about bikes, road or mountain ?
stopping is the only sensible option- outrunning the car- maybe- but presumably one would then be exceeding the 100 mph by a considerable margin. Off at the next junction only to find his 'mate' parked at the top of the slip road waiting for you - I would think the charges then are considerably worse and the Court would treat one as a 'real' criminal as opposed to a traffic criminal.
Often thought about the UK Driving Secrets -- worth a read ??
Prefer to avoid rather than deal with the consequences though

'I used to know a friend' Not me,
Who owned a chipped Yamaha R1 and when he wanted a good scratch session he would remove his velcro number plate and go a bit rapid. There used to be 15-20 of them on occasions who went on rideout's and if they ever accidentally went over the limit and got chased by the fuzz in a car they'd obviously out run them. When the helicopters were called they just headed for Heathrow airport as helicopters can't go in Heathrow's air space (apparently).
Thing is, the camera's on the helicopters are now so good they can tell the colour of your eyes from the air so you will eventually end up in nick as all pursuits are recorded, leathers are photographed for distinguishing marks etc..
The moral of this story is - A chipped R1 can do 0-60 in sub 2secs if you can hang on....!!
Pointless I know..Sorry in advance.

Sticking to 70mph? Thats going nowhere fast. Well if you pass em at a ton, they clock you, come after you and you do decide to put pedal to the metal, deal with them quickly, blow em out as soon as possible, dragging it out is risky. I personally would not say that a ton is excessive speed, this is an S4 we are talking about, not a Ford Cortina. I'd like to hear from anyone who has been caught at over a ton and been let off by traffic police. Ive even heard of cases where they lost the car they were after and decided that they would pull the next sports car they saw. Next thing you know, they are off to court, a right fit up. You might wanna think about stopping again, especially if the odds are in your favour!
