Exhaust and the need for 'more noise'?

I'd like to be able to get more noise from a car that still has OEM system... I find it okay-ish (at my current age ) but would welcome more noise when accelerating or doing Autobahnn runs.

that posses the inevitable q, what would be the best way to get more noise w/o introducing that awful droning sound (at low revs)?

Take out the centre exhaust boxes.

I went the other way and kept the centre resonators but completely removed the back boxes -

Positives - Louder at full throttle but not droney, less weight (:D) and more "mid-frequency range" overall sound.

Negatives - Extremely loud during the 30 sec long cold start which will likely make next-door neighbours complain eventually, I mean so loud you have to almost shout to be heard.

I put a video on YouTube of this setup when I was still at stage 2 to give you a rough idea but the sound quality at full throttle isn't good because the poor microphone just gets abused by the volume levels!

@Ian - that's what i was looking for and thanks for additional insights. Do you mind me asking how easy/difficult it was to fit, e.g. welded or you have clamps for easy removal if needed?

and one last q ... assume that setup w/o the rear silencers is MoT friendly?

Here's a few pics I took, I did mine like this as Mon-Fri I used the back boxes but weekends were for the straight pipe. It took about 5 mins per side to swap between back box and straight pipe and the hardest part I think was getting the arm out of the rubber hangers until I got one of the "special tools" from Halfords specifically for that job. I had the actual work done at MIJ in Birmingham as I passed through from Kent to Stoke.

When I did this in 2015 yes it was, however today, no idea! The only time that the noise was ever an issue was, as mentioned above, during that 30 sec cold start. Other than that is was just a little louder than a Milltek at idle.

Yeap, flanges were solely so I could quickly swap them over at the weekend.
