Hello - New RS6 (C7) owner seeking some basic pointers please
Evening all - I bought myself a 2014 Panther Black RS6 last month (no issues so far) - but could do with some basic pointers re: the MMI+ system please (though it could be I need basic advice about data sims and Audi Connect!). Based on earnings, this is the maximum quality of car I felt I could live with without upsetting the disposable income pot / what if something goes wrong with it pot - but it is a "dream" now realised even if I will drive it very gently everywhere.
As I understand it - if I put a data sim into the sim slot, I should be able to access Google Maps to overlay the standard maps. However, Google Maps never gets beyond "loading" - which means I either need to do something different to activate the sim, or I need to speak to Audi to do some "enabling" of me with the car??? I seem to be able to access Audi Connect - but that doesn't really seem to be much to shout about (or am I missing something). I only want Google Maps as that will save me having to put my Xperia on the dashboard using the Google Maps app.
And finally, as my car has no USB direct port, am I right in thinking I cannot get apps from my Xperia phone to "visualise" themselves on the MMI+ screen - but is there a way the MMI+ can be adapted to allow this - maybe also making it a touchscreen (or would this not be possible)?
Many thanks for any replies or links to where I might find the answers. Pic of my toy attached. Kindest regards Jools.
P.S. If the previous owner of the car happens to see this post - thank you for treasuring the car, and if anyone buys my 2013 Black low mileage TT RS I traded in - you're getting a great carthat was lovingly maintained daily.

Congrats on the 'new' car. Google maps is gone... No more on Audi. Recently their contract with Google ended and they are not renewing it. They temporarily reappeared for a few a few weeks and went again. Audi are updating some cars for the new maps supplier i cant remember who but only for MY18 onwards.
The audi connect pack was free and as part of Audi greed have started charging £11.99 per month for what is basically useless data/info. Don't waste your money imo
The facelift models from My17 were able to have apple/android carplay option and also a dealer upgrade but earlier models it will need to be an external carplay unit
Touchscreen can be done by rs nav.com with a 10" fixed screen and allow you to connect your phone and other devices without the hassle of the audi oem restrictions. iirc its around $700

Thanks - yes it's the 20's - picked up some black Audi centre caps to replace the grey ones (personal choice). It's such a nice car to drive - as easy as my other half's Audi A1 when pootling around, yet amazing performance on tap should I ever "feel the need". Seats are so comfy.
I though my previous TTRS was a decent car (certainly very reliable but never felt agile and light to drive like the RS6 does), but the RS6 is a significant step up - so I salute all of you on here for being owners of such a terrific piece of automotive artwork and engineering brilliance.
