Cannot deactivate traction control....advice please

Post by gary.gary.gary » Mon Jun 28, 2021 7:42 pm

Hi Guys

I had the car detailed last week, looks awesome....but...

Since then I cannot turn the traction control off!

According to the detailer, a fault came on the dash when he switched the car on, on one occasion....it was a picture of a dampener and he thought is said something about suspension.

When I got back to pick up the car, the fault had gone.

The only thing I can think is the car was jacked up and all four wheels removed for 3.5 days.

Although the fault is not showing, I cannot deactivate traction control. When I press the button (and for the duration I hold it) the traction control light comes on the dash. As soon as I let the button go, the traction control light goes off again.

What is going on?

Appreciate any experience and/or suggestions please?

Thanks 👍

Did they put the car into wheel change mode on the HMI before jacking it up? I would suggest firstly reading and clearing any codes (if you have a reader) and secondly, disconnecting the battery for a period of time

Thanks!

I didn't know there was a change wheel mode....how do you find that? Mines a pre face-lift 2013.

I disconnected the battery for 20 mins today, but no change.

What kit should I buy to read and reset faults?

Ah, ok. Maybe there isnt a wheel change mode then, mine is a facelift model and is accessed through the MMI, sure its in the service menu. I bought an OBDeleven reader, this also allows you to set up cool features on your car such as Video in Motion, Continental rear running lights, stop start deactivation etc. You can also read and reset error codes and seems pretty good, maybe not up to VAGCOMS but cheaper and does everything I need it to. I read an article on another forum that said if the car was jacked up and different modes were selected (comfort, dynamic etc) whilst it was jacked up then it could through up alarms
