It's BCA themselves that would seem to have made a tidy profit - the car was bought by them though WBAC, so I doubt they would have been overly generous on their offer to the seller...!

Crazy how the owner just punted it out, must be something underlying like gearbox issue.

The number of cars (hundreds) that are auctioned every day at BCA that have been sourced through WBAC, plus those that are available through Cinch, their other sales arm, would suggest that many owners just can't be bothered selling their cars themselves and would rather take the easy way out albeit taking quite a hit.

Even if here had been an issue as you suggest (which I personally doubt), it would come straight back to BCA as they have quite strict Assured and Condition reports on all eligible vehicles which give buyers assurance that if the condition whether bodily or mechanically (major components) is not as described, then it can be returned (from memory I think it is 500 miles and so many days). They have upped their game in this respect now all sales are online with no physical auctions where previously buyers could examine vehicles prior to auction.

Exactly that, I paid A LOT less than that for mine on 11k miles with the intention of using it, at that price I would have bought an RS6

My RS4 is probably one of the highest millage cars I have ever owned (not including company cars) @ 38k and it really bugs me. I really struggled to find a lower millage car (just over 2 years ago) in the condition and spec I wanted. I do circa 3k a year as I have other cars, plus I have always worked from home (not a result of covid) so it will eventually be a low ish millage car, just have to keep it for 10 years...
