Anyone able to do a HPI check for me?

Post by Shoppinit » Sun Jan 10, 2021 4:48 pm

As above really. I know some people have trade access and I'd much appreciate a quick check on a car I'm looking at.

Umming and ahhing about buying a car and kinda trying to find a reason not to! For someone who owns an RS6 I hate spending money!

Nothing particularly interesting - I need a daily. I’m looking for a Mercedes C350E or a Passat GTE. Estates. Can’t decide which.

Bad time to buy a car. Not much on the market and high demand is sending prices up.

I originally just wanted a mile muncher for about 10k then it spiralled from there. It’s hard to find something that’s palatable that’s not diesel.

That would be much appreciated, but only if they will be of no use to you.

I have sent them over, I bought 10 of them so it's not a problem! Cheers.

You could have £12k of Large Blancmange... https://specialistcars-stoke.co.uk/show ... esign-5dr/

Or an S5... https://specialistcars-stoke.co.uk/show ... matic-3dr/

Dealer is decent though. I have had a car from him and it was spotless even at 10 years old. He seems to have a few Audis kicking about.

Yeah, S5 is great, but I want something I can put miles on and not care. I don't need another car that needs ridiculous amounts of TLC - have enough of those! Also, needs to be an Estate. This is an absolute requirement.

Don't think I could bring myself to own a Vauxhall. Not sure why, I just don't like them!

Rather out of budget but there is a Seat estate:

It's also worth looking at Cazoo as they do home delivery and 7 day free returns.

I do like those Cupras. That one's definitely out of budget, though. I'd go up to 18k for the right car.

I was quite tempted by a Skoda Octavia vRS when I thought they also had the same 300hp engine, but lost interest when I found out they didn't!

Yeah, Cazoo. It feels soooo wrong buying a car sight-unseen, but I get the concept. I'll have a look.

What's the deal at the moment travelling to see used cars. Presumably it's a no-no. Are dealers even open? They seem to be to some extent.

You can't travel to test drive. You can't travel to do a private purchase at all. You can only travel to a dealer to collect a car you've already paid for so paperwork etc should all be done as much as possible before you get there. A lot of dealers are doing home delivery too. It's far better than hanging around for hours while they to and fro and make you sit though all their FCA and GAP insurance crap.

I'm the same. I find Vauxhalls just feel different to every other car and I view Vauxhall owners as a slightly different breed. In their minds, they still own a 1991 Astra GTE.

Shop

Perhaps this C350e might be of interest. Dealer, Paul Noyce is a friend of mine who supplies most of the vehicles for the charity that I'm a director of.
