Beware when getting tyres fitted - Damage to alloys
Re: Beware when getting tyres fitted - Damage to alloys
I change tires from summer to winter every year, have no issues, but you need to know to which dealer you should go

I do this too, but have a spare set of winter wheels and tyres, so it's just a matter of swapping wheels over.
In the long run I reckon it's cheaper to do this, the spare wheels are a "cheaper" set of alloys than the smart summer ones and being smaller diameter (with deeper profile tyres) are much less prone to damage in the pothole months. And any minor winter damage/scrape is usually hidden by road dirt anyway.
I realise not everyone has the space to store an extra set (though some tyre places will do this for a small sum) or a car that will take different wheel diameters. Fortunately mine has the choice of 18's or 20's.
I also tend to buy new tyres "out of season" at competitive prices and store them with the relevant set of wheels that are off the car. Then I use a mobile tyre fitter to both put any new tyres on and swap the wheels over, checking and balancing them all at the same time.

I have a set of 21" winters on the OEM alloys that came with the car. The Vossens are also 21" and I opted this time for Michelin Pilot 4's instead of Continentals. I planned to use them on the car for another few weeks, or until the temperature starts dropping below 5 degrees Celsius. Its cheaper long term to swap your tyres because the summer tyres get damaged when being used during colder temperatures. They will last longer.HPsauce wrote: ↑Wed Nov 25, 2020 4:52 pmI do this too, but have a spare set of winter wheels and tyres, so it's just a matter of swapping wheels over.

I use same rims for summer and winter season, I remove summer tires from a rim and put winter tires on a same rim, it’s cheaper, no need extra rims
