They went for £750 good value 50% of the Audi price.\

BTW Audi put a 20% margin on these parts so ask for money off you'll get it if you phone around.

Assuming that is for front only, and smooth discs?

That is front only but they are the RS6+ discs (grooved). I am upgrading my S4 brakes to RS6 ones and therefore starting from scratch so keen to get good prices. VAT onto prices i quoted above but I was quoted £680 for RS6+ front discs and pads all in.

Thought the price differance may be worth some of you doing the change yourself...

Sounds a little under the dealership prices, normal for VAGPARTS, although the pads are a lot cheaper.

Have recently replaced mine through Audi for the + setup 8)

Also in for 3 warranty issues :(

Booked in for a service next week and to have the drilled front discs and pads replaced. After a bit of haggling I've got them down to £858 inc vat and fitting. Does this sound reasonable ... the nice service lady wasn't prepared to budge any further. What did you end up paying Rossybee?

Rich.

Do you mind telling me what the warranty issues are? Common faults?
Mine will have five when I leave it in.

1) Power loss
2) Brake warning ( ! )
3) Coolant warning
4) Lumbar support motor not working
5) CD changer doesn't always like the CDs, lots of very annoying "ERROR" and "NO CD" messages. A blast with an air-duster helped a lot, but it's still not 100%.

Don't mind at all :D

1) Rear parking sensors not working - part on order
2) Sticking right-rear window - part on order
3) Sticky driver's door handle - mechanic didn't agree with me

So, not the greatest of service... but they gave me an A4 2.0TDi sportline to use which wasn't too bad, and they "washed and vacuumed the car for your convenience" - bollocks :!:

Mine had an intermittent fault on the rear sensors - first they replaced the sensor, but it was no better (actually, worse!). Then they had the car back in and spent the best part of a day finding, and repairing, a broken wire.

pads and discs

Post by whispers » Sat Feb 18, 2006 1:58 pm

probably drive mine too fast and brake too hard
had a friend who is a vw/audi specialist check with his oppo' in germany ....
he advises use normal discs front and rear , normal pads rear and pagid rs14 ceramic pads at the front .
brake fade is unoticeable with the creamics on . (plenty of nice brake dust on the front that i need to keep on top of when its washed!)
i used to get brake fade with reg' front pads on dual carriage ways and roundabouts on on country roads .
as for cost i think if you talk nicely to parts guys at audi they'l give 5-10% off on parts ,
front discs about £280 , back disc nearly the same , r pads £70 ish and i pay £291 for the ceramic pads .
i pay the specialist £35 per hour for labour as its better than £70-£80 +var at audi
