MTM Exhaust vs Miltek
On the QST Tuning webpage, the MTM Exhaust costs a whopping £2700 !!! while the Miltek costs £850. Is there much difference in sound and performance ? Has anyone here fitted a MTM willing to provide feedback.

"Next on the 'to do' list is change the exhaust from the downpipes back. This costs a further £3407 and liberates an extra 12bhp. It does this via a clever butterfly valve within the pipes that opens up once boost goes over 0.8bar (max boost is 1.31bar) effectively creating a straight-through exhaust. It makes an astonishing sound. It's loud enough to bring people out of nearby houses to see what's going on (it happened, really, during our test). The quality of the noise is pure Nascar and nothing like any turbo car I've ever experienced. But it's perhaps a little too loud; good job it's not a mandatory part of the spec.

There is another thread recently about mod's that touches on the benefits of zorst changes.
Summary was catback is 'cosmetic' as there is little chance of getting a performance gain unless you address the OEM cats as they are the first resistance to flow. So full system in conjunction with a remap etc, is the only way you'll get return on investment with an exhaust change.
Given the costs in these catback options you'd be best off with the Milltek (IMHO). £2700 v £850 plus fitting for a nicer noise...its a no-brainer.
I have the MIlltek and really enjoy the difference in output from OEM, much more enjoyable and not intrusive under sensible driving or cruising.
If you go for catback only, don't look for performance gains. I am sure there are others who will disagree, especially those with interests in tuners or feeling good about the money they have spent on theirs.

I had Milltek cat-back on my RS6 for about 12 months, then decided to have the whole system replaces including downpipes, sports-cats & a new matching cat-back. It was not cheap (Milltek) but the difference in every dept. was amazing.

Finally got to give the car a proper clean yesterday and found my Milltek had melted the valance like your Paul. Not too bad, you can't notice unless you get close.

This was defo an issue, however the newest Milltek cat-back which i had installed when i had the downpipes & sports-cats fitted, as the original cat-back did not match up is a much better fit & n melting since then (looks far flusher as well). So get a newer Milltek cat-back & a new rear valance & you'll be sorted

Guys, so how much is the full Miltek system cost approx ? I suppose the MTM £2700 is the full system then too ??

Talk to Kim at QST he will tell you the config. Got to be for that price, but IIRC MTM do a quad pipe system which might account for a high price on a catback.
Miltek owners .... how does your exhaust compare to this MTM one then ? Very much the same, different, louder/quiter etc.....

Does the quad pipe have any performance advantages or is it purely acoustics?? Will have to borrow a sound meter to determine what dB you get per £! £850 sounds a bargain.
A friend of mine is a motor vehicle claim adjudicator, watch that insurance small print if you write-off your pride & joy and have any non-standard bits. She has some savage horror-stories of major £'s claims being denied for very minor infringements... Although you are between a rock and a hard place, as one of my peers had a factory-fitted prodrive exhaust fitted to his new subaru and despite having clean licence, no claims and many years of driving under his belt, many insurers wouldnt offer a quotation purely because of the exhaust!
