homologated for towing drc vs non drc

Really torn between the drc vs non drc car but I just wondered if someone with a non drc car and someone with a drc car could check their vin plate to see if the cars are homologated for towing. I know from the factory you cant opt for a towbar with a drc car and understand the reasons why.
I believe it is the second weight figure down on the vin plate, if its blank then the vehicle cant tow, could someone have a check of theirs please?

Hi Danny,

I opted out of DRC as I wanted a tow bar for Bike Rack.

I have been told the DRC modules are located behind the rear bumper hence why a tow bar cannot to installed.

4500 miles in with my car & I don't miss DRC one bit- especially the odd Knocking noises !!!!

DRC question for you as it sounds like you have run both. Friend and colleague of mine about to order a new RS4 - has 2 options one with DRC and one without. The without has the tour pack.

Sounds like you have had the standard set up and DRC how would you describe both ? And you seem to prefer non - aside from the tow bar, why ?

I’m no use to him as I’ve had a 4 and 2 6’s both with drc.

Hi Mike,

I suppose over the years I have had so many issues with DRC,
I have had 7 RS4's
In the Early B7 & B8's the Drc used to wind me up Knocking & Frequently leaking from Strutts.

I suppose they have sorted the issues now - just didn't want to pay the additional 2K for it. thought that was a lot on an already 77K Car !!

I wanted a Tow Bar which finally swung my decision which was well o the Non DRC trail.

So ride wise you don’t find it too hard ? And handling not much different to with ?

The ones I’ve had have all been just fine fortunately but I have to say I probably use dynamic less than 5 percent of the time.....

Was frustrated at the lack of tow bar when I realised that was an issue as I had a bike carrier but I have roof ones now too.

I don’t have DRC and the ride is fine and the handling great. There can be a slight jitteriness on certain b roads - just feels sort of “jiggly” but if I was ordering again I would not change due to the unreliability issues as the car is a keeper.

Yes as Elpeterol says I do agree.

I am happy with it with no DRC especially at that cost.

The car seems fine, most of the time I am in Comfort too & if it Dynamic it docent matter as im usually in a Rush -- LOL
