What does dynamic mode do

Post by Dannyboy123 » Mon Oct 12, 2020 9:29 pm

So, if I have an RS4 that has a sports exhaust but no drc or dynamic steering does the dynamic mode just open the exhaust flaps to increase engine sound?

All RS4 B9’s have RS sport suspension and is adjustable via drive select. Comfort is soft and Dynamic is hard. Auto is medium, however I think it can adapt itself? Not sure so maybe someone can confirm this?
Dynamic increases the throttle response and gear changes, holding onto lower gears longer and changes down quickly and earlier than in Auto or comfort. I also think that the gearbox makes changes based on the satnav data, I.e. bends etc
The exhaust sound is louder in Dynamic mode, although this is artificial in the cabin.
The sports diff gives more input in Dynamic that you can actually feel working in the bends.
In Dynamic the cruise control is more eager to accelerate and brake harder (if you have adaptive).
Oh and you can set the door insert LEDs to go red when in Dynamic mode if you have the multi colour light pack option! (Interior go faster stripes)
There maybe more but others must comment, I too would like to know more ...

Cheers
Paul

That's what I was thinking but wasnt 100% sure. My old rs5 had the drc and I maybe used the dynamic setting twice in two years, but I am abit concerned about body roll on a non drc rs4.

I wish I could unplug the fake sound, it's awful. Anyone know if thats a thing?

Wouldn't worry about body roll. My B9 has no DRC and coming from a B8 that did the handling is so much better you don't even think about body roll

I think you need VCDS to change the fake sound think. Audi should be able to do it for you though.

The sound ducer or speaker thing is fitted where the spare wheel is or would be in the boot, just disconnect it and try it. It’s about 4” square.

See if you get any faults show up?

Just had a look. I've got what looks like a sub under the actual spare wheel. Then there is smaller box fixed to the boot floor (nearest the rear bumper) is that it do you think?

You can limit, in 10% steps or totally disable the 'Soundaktor' gizmo using OBD11 too. I did it on my B9 RS4 - also disabled the headlamp washers.
