Speak upgrade advice

Post by LRB23 » Wed Sep 23, 2020 12:35 pm

I’m looking to upgrade the standard Bose system. Does anyone have any suggestions? I’ve found a garage that can fit the optional Bang & Olufsen speaker set up at £4500. I’m sure there are cheaper options out there. I did have the Bang & Olufsen system in my previous S3 and i felt like it was night and day over the Bose. Really liked the sound but at £4500 it’s a lot to shell out.

Cheers all.

Disconnect the centre channel speaker, fit an amp and subwoofer in the boot and listen to FLACs rather than MP3s.
Beyond that you will be looking at changing speakers and adding amps.
The B&O in the C7 does sound pretty good but no better than a half decent aftermarket set-up. But it has the convenience of being stealth i.e no extra boxes in the boot / under seats.

Thanks Mike. You’re right.... I’m not too keen on adding extra kit that’s going to sit on view, hence why I was considering swapping the Boss out for the B&O set up.

I'd still disconnect the centre channel whilst weighing up your options; it's a 5 minute mod.

I just added a JL amp and sub to my boot, amazing upgrade and on balance about as good as the B&0 in my old S7, all for a few hundred quid and about 3hours work to install.

This is what I added to mine.

I’m no expert but to me it sounds great.

What’s involved in this bud and why would you disconnect it?

@r33

Can you give me an idea of install please?

Where did you pick up power for the AMP?
Did you have to route speaker wires from head unit to AMP? - is this easy? How did you do it?

Thank you :)

Yes, I too want to know that, how do you install additional sub and amp?
