Rs4 b8 engine noise

Hi guys, I’m new to rs4 ownership and the forum. I’ve got a tapping noise from my engine between 1000-2000rpm I’ve attached a video of the noise. Hoping someone can shed some light on what the issue is, I’ve heard the same noise on other YouTube videos so it must be a common issue?

Hi, just watched your video, I’ve never noticed this in mines before so I’ll have a look later and get back to you on it, has yours been kept up to date with all servicing and oil changes as expected on these cars!!
I’m sure mines ticks on start up from cold while sitting high on the revs for a few seconds then disappears.
I’ll have a look later.

Thanks for checking. Yeah it’s got full service history and only on 60k. It disappears when the engine is warm but seems to be getting worse when it’s cold, I didn’t notice it until a week after buying the car.

That doesn’t sound good, I would get it checked out asap and would not use it until diagnosed. Sounds like it’s coming from the valve train area. Can you hear if it is coming from a specific side of the engine? It would help to diagnose it if you can pin point the part of the engine where it is loudest.

Has performance of the motor been affected through the Rev range?

Have you checked the oil level?

What RS4GCI said, that doesn't sound good unfortunately and I'd get that booked in straight away
