Crash Dummy Required to test Brakes

Jeff thanks for the kind offer and also bringing the demo models along yesterday.
I personally feel that someone undertaking this firstly must have an RS4 also must do trackdays on a regular basis,and also actually understand what is trying to be achieved....
Having all those things in place , someone undertaking this would need to know just how much the cost would be and also what allowances would be made considering all the faffing about the said person would incurr.
No such thing as a free ride in my opinion so the person who ever taking this on should know a few facts before committing to this.
Also just one other point, i know most RS4 owners who track there cars and majority allready have braking systems over and above the stardard, so in my opinion i can only think of two candidates TimJMS and PhilT, both live in the north of the country and would be a good old way to travel.

Couldn't agree more. I was just trying to relay to possibilty to the guys here. It's up to who ever decides to take this on to discuss the discount level/FOC with HiSpec before committing to the test.

I'm aware that brakes seem to be an issue with RS4/S4 on track days and this is why I asked if we as a community could be involved with the testing of the new caliper/disk combo. I don't have the car, yet [img]images/graemlins/icon_lol.gif[/img], to push the new equipment to the limit otherwise I would have got them to fit it to my S4.

Mmmmmm but there`s one big problem with this...... just say for instance your testing these brakes and they fail at high speed and your car is involved in accident! do you honestly think that HiSpec will care??? [img]images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img] didnt think so....... maybe they will including this in there small print when they get you to sign a disclaimer? and will your insurance company payout on proto-type brakes??? are they TUV approved etc??? sorry to bring up more issues but i think it worth inputting this information. The calipers/rotors that we are discussing are not radical new technology and are based on HiSpec's existing designs. The brake system will obviously be bleed through during fitting and a short road test will be done.

To have a catastophic failure of the type you are suggesting would require complete loss of hydraulic pressure which is extremly unlikely except if one of the brake lines is cut or disconected. I believe the RS4 will have split braking circuits so this failure would require both front brake lines to be disconnected or cut. I would suggest that in these circumstances no braking system would work.

TuV approval is required for the German market only.

I am interested in doing it, I do trackdays and can give them a decent test I think. If you have a 'helper' already, no problem.

There are a few people interested but I think they are probable waiting for Tweakys final comments on the other thread concerning HiSpec.
