Best suspension.

Fo Shizzle? Oh look, it's raining and I need to pop to the shops. I'll just pop the car up on the stands and remove the roll bar...........

Re: Best suspension.
All the options are hard and crashy. I found the KW variant 1s I fitted this time to be just a bit less hard and crashy than the Bilsteins that were on before. They were the 'cheap' Bilsteins though. Having more progressive bump stops so every time you run out of suspension travel you don't get the full force would help. The KWs smooth over low speed bumps just a bit more so they don't have such square edges. KW do a fully adjustable variant for the RS6. That's another possibility.
I'd be interested in whether you can go the air suspension route as I think that might be the only way. I"m sure I saw someone had done an air suspension kit for the RS6 but it was quite pricey (no surprise there then).
Smaller wheels with higher profile tyres would also be better. I don't think 19s with the 35 profile are ever going to give a decent ride on today's appalling roads.

Re: Best suspension.
I don't agree. The PSS9 isn't harsh or crashy. It is, however, firm. It's great over most road surfaces but hates potholes, speed bumps and sudden big height changes. The might be exacerbated by the fact that I've got mine set high to get OE ride height. That means there's less travel in the shocks before the bump stops are hit. Probably if I lowered it a bit it would be better.
I like to hoon down single track country lanes in mine (yeah, I shoulda been a scooby boy), and these rarely have a great road surface, but the car feels planted and predictable. Very little body roll and nice secure ride. It also feels great on faster, smoother roads, but by the time you've got the suspension properly working on roads like that, you are already going scary fast anyway.
I cringe when I see a speed bump approaching and creep over it walking speed. Not sure there's much you can do about that, with any RS6 suspension.

Yeah I tend to agree Shop. If buying the s6 shocks and some springs etc was way cheaper it would be worth me trying. Or if I had the original kit and would only need the shocks. I did rate the pss9 on my last one so will probably end up going the same route.

Re: Best suspension.
They are race bars for race speeds and the advice is given in that context. Every good peddler will soften the bars to maximise grip at the track. Mate wrote off his RS4 at street legal speeds due to a spin out probably caused by a malfunctioning LSD so easy enough for a car with oversize bars to spin out with a bit of brain fade.Mɐʇʇ wrote: ↑Fri Apr 17, 2020 8:45 amFo Shizzle? Re: Best suspension.
The B8's are around the same price here, I paid about 500 pounds equivalent for the set. That includes all spring seats etc, only needed the springs to make the change. I bought Eibach springs for the RS4 but thought I would just try the DRC springs here first and they were just fine. PSS9 here are from about 1500 to 2500 pound equivalent for the set so for me it was a no brainer at 1/3 or much better the price.Human Joist wrote: ↑Fri Apr 17, 2020 9:28 amYeah I tend to agree Shop. If you can get pss9 at anywhere near the B8 price plus springs, you'd be mad to pass it by.

Re: Best suspension.
What’s the difference between the b14 and b16 then. I know they are adjustable damping. But if I end up setting them at say 4 and leave them there am I worth just getting b14. How harsh are they in comparison to the b16 as I won’t be tracking the car
Re: Best suspension.
Like I said, by most accounts they are hard. But I’ve never experienced them personally.

Re: Best suspension.
Perception is everything. The B8's on the RS4 can be harsh over cattle grids but otherwise fine in a sports suspension sense over a range of surfaces. The B8 on the RS6 is not harsh in a direct comparison over cattle grids and I get a better ride overall. Weight may have a bit to do with it in this case. Not the ideal time but I'd suggest that when able, you ask around for a quick ride in various suspension options and see what you think. A lot to spend on someone else's recommendation.
There are many options that I may have considered but ride height also has an influence. Speed bumps are everywhere and getting bigger and steeper, some entrances are clearance unfriendly, I just want to be able to drive my car, not have to leave it somewhere as it can't crest some man made obstruction in normal driving situations.

Re: Best suspension.
I’m still looking in to b8 shocks with some springs if I can find some drc springs for sale or similar. The research is key as I want to get it right before vomiting
Re: Best suspension.
There are these:

The front springs have the right colour codes for a standard RS6. The rear I was expecting 1 orange stripe. But 1 orange and 1 grey could still be RS6.

Suspect the orange stripe is for the loon and the orange + grey for the Avant. What have you got?

Re: Best suspension.
Could get those and have them powder coated. Then purchase the b8 shocks. Don’t know if they come with spring plates. Then source bump stops maybe ?
