Hi I’m looking at the next mods I can do on my rs6 c6 ... I’ve just reconditioned the turbos now I wished I made them hybrid anyways the car is at stage 2 so I will be looking at rebuilding the gearbox etc and doing the down pipes so my questions are ...
Is there any way it can pass mot with new downpipes?
What are the next mods to gain power (safe)?
Or have messed it up by keeping turbos standard, any advise would be great

Re: What next
hi,
what work did you do on turbo's?
And was it the engine out job to reach them?
Cheers!

Just reconditioned them, had engine out and done both.

Re: What next
I really think that Stage 2 is kind of a sweet spot for these cars - any more power and you start to run into very large "cost vs performance" issues where the previous stock hp to 730hp+ costs around £2k but 730hp to 830hp+ sees a massive increase in cost.
I know that if I had my time again I would've stayed at 730hp purely down to the cost involved as I wish I had my £35k+ (900hp and 2x breakages) back for a house deposit!

Re: What next
Ian,
That's a very telling comment from one of the RS6 trail-blazers.
Would you have thought the same if you hadn't had the breakages?
Is your car back on the road now?
Cheers,
Nick
Re: What next
As far as I know, the max you can get out of the standard turbos is ~800ps, that will be with meth injection, you need hybrids to go higher, with associated much higher costs.Ads50 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 08, 2020 12:30 pmHi I’m looking at the next mods I can do on my rs6 c6 ... I've been in 900+ ones and I concur with Ian H, I think stage 2 is the sweet spot. Mine's been 770ps 1100+Nm for over 5 years now, with no problems.
I am looking for something new, but I still giggle everytime I drive mine, brutal power.
My humble advice, stay at stage 2, even the meth inj is a PITA I hear.
Have you upgraded the brakes/suspension? That's where I would be looking if I was you if not.
I believe these WILL pass with only sec cats, mine's fully de-catted so I wouldn't know 100% though

Ok what have you done to yours ? The brakes and suspension are standard atm, yes lol I’ve been thinking about an m3 f80 but think it just wouldn’t be the samedon0301 wrote:As far as I know, the max you can get out of the standard turbos is ~800ps, that will be with meth injection, you need hybrids to go higher, with associated much higher costs.Ads50 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 08, 2020 12:30 pmHi I’m looking at the next mods I can do on my rs6 c6 ... Re: What next
H & R anti roll bars make a big improvement to turn in and "wallow", def "must" I would say.
I'm on standard discs but with braided hoses/dot 4 brake fluid,DS2500 pads and the "phaeton" mod, look it up.
engine wise 3" dp's, full custom exhaust, mrc engine and gearbox map.

Re: What next
my advise... fill it up (regularly), enjoy it for a month or two as is and then start making your wish list re mods.
Paper it, do the maths and see if it's worth (to you).
Great cars and I personally had so much fun with it. Still puts a smile on my face!
Enjoy it

Re: What next
Yes I would. Don't get me wrong, I'd still buy the car if it was already at 900hp, so the original owner has spend heavily on it, but as I'm that "original owner" I'm well aware that the large amount of money spent going from 730hp to 900hp will never be recouped. The actual cost of the breakages hasn't been that "bad" when you look at it, with a 105k mile engine pushing 750hp for 20k miles inc trackdays then 900hp for another 15k+ miles so when it scored a bore it was kind of expected at that mileage and power. then there's the uprated GB that popped a shaft after 15k miles of track days again, full throttle runs 4-6 times every single day for 2+ years before popping during some very hard driving in Scotland for 3 days solid etc. So these were points I was already aware were weak (old engine, hard use on the GB) but have now been replaced with newer or stronger parts which will last another 75k miles+ as a guess.welwynnick wrote: ↑Wed Mar 04, 2020 10:06 amThat's a very telling comment from one of the RS6 trail-blazers.

Yeap I still own the car but as I've been working in Saudi for the past 2 years (another 2-3 to go) I'm only spending a month in the UK per year, so I'll be putting it up for sale shortly as it's just not ideal for such a high power car to be driven around by my 70yo dad to keep everything ticking over until that month when I can get back and drive it. It's currently with Grizz getting a lot of TLC work done prior to the sale (new DRC struts/pipes, new brakes allround, lots of little fixes for niggly issues etc) and I'm collecting it in April which is when I'll advertise it.
