Re: Mods
Very interesting chaps..I have been reading the arguments (oops...discussions) about modding and how a rolling road is a good/unnecessary thing. The main issue regarding rolling road was the price, in the region of £1k with AMD. The link to this website above is quoting a mod and rolling road for an S4 at £700...good price don't you think?, As I am looking to go down this route, can you give me your thoughts on this package as I am not too familiar with APR mods.

Re: Mods
TurkS4, APR originate from the US - here is a link to their European web site.
Basically they offer thye following ; stage 1 ECU only, Stage 2 ECU & cat-back, Stage 2+ is stg2 plus downpipes and stage 3 is the full KO4 treatment. All power claims are inline with MTM, AMD etc.. IMHO they offer the most flexible solution for S4 owners who want several octane programs for street & track (you can have upto 4) which can be switched via the cruise control stalk whilst on the move - cool or what

Re: Mods
Thanks Nige_S4...
Cool...do not fancy sending my ECU in though and have them tinkering it without a rolling road. It appears the consensus is to have a rolling road for that 'piece of mind' factor. The chip seems ideal as you can switch to and from various modes, just need to find a tuner who could do it with a rolling road for around £700...any ideas who can down Saaff?(south)

Re: Mods
TurkS4, the best I can offer is sound advice on preparing your car prior to an ECU upgrade. This has been covered several times on this forum (and even more times on other S4 forums) but consists of checking and replacing the usual S4 gremlins i.e. replace TBB hose, check F hose, replace both BPV with uprated units, check MAF g/s reading (with VAG-COM or similar), check for boost leaks with something similar to this.
No adjustments are made to the APR program itself during fitting, so the benefits of a RR session are limited IMHO (as long as you get the pre-requisites above attened to). If you chose to go for a RR for peace of mind that the upgrade is producing the goods, then make sure you go to someone who knows the 2.7t engine inside out.
Hope this is of some help.

In addition dependant on mileage you might want to invest in a cambelt, tensioners and water pump change. If you were at 60K and were considering an ECU upgrade I would strongly recommend the latter. Water pump not essential but it is £60 and might aswell be changed whilst they are at it.
