RS4 vs M3 vs New S4
RS4 vs M3 vs New S4
OK. So my wife is more decisive at clothes shopping than I am about cars.
Thinking of swapping my RS4 eating R32
I'm either going to get a 2 seater and run around, or some solid german engineering.
Funnily enough the RS4 comes to mind as well as the M3 and new S4. Which one ?
M3
Liked my first one, could get it as a Cab and kill two birds with one stone. However it always seemed to be fun when you were at license threating speeds. Also concerned that oversupply means crap resale. However there doesnt seem to be many cheap Cabs arround. Could get a new one tommorrow
New S4
Looking at some of the write ups in Germany and here, it beaten the M3, which in turn had beaten the RS4
Now my decisions are not based on Mag write ups, but it has had some good ones. Hate to think what the fuel consumption is. It also might not be quick enough and expensive to tune.
RS4
Need to spend money on it, which gets expensive (and I am working in Telecoms, so commision is a bit thin on the ground) Also worry about the residual impact the new S4 will have on it. Prices do seem to be drifiting downwards with very few £40k plus car on the Audi web site. So do I go for a second RS4 ?
Love some unbiased input.

Re: RS4 vs M3 vs New S4
Difficult one. Depends if you're looking for a saloon or not.
M3 great car
S4 seems to be the bollocks
RS4 agreed, needs to be modified to maximise potential.
If you want to stick to a saloon, wait 4 months and get a low mileage RS6 saloon for under £45k like me
If you think an estate will be Ok, buy a 2nd hand modded RS4 (most of the moneys already been spent)
If you can boof your hair, often wear a sparkly tie and gold sovereigns on each finger - go M3
S4 - dont know yet

Re: RS4 vs M3 vs New S4
I had noticed that the RS6 saloon is as popular as Mr Bush in Bagdad
Maybe we can have a sweepstake for the first under £45k RS6 to appear on the Audi web site.
The estate or saloon are not an issue for me.

Re: RS4 vs M3 vs New S4
I think this is funny as you gave us all lip about your RS4 eater and now thinking of returning to and RS4
I will sell you mine for the right price
And as you change your cars like the weather how many cars have you owned 2 off?
If you are even considering the RS4, then get one

Re: RS4 vs M3 vs New S4
M3 Cab - don't do it, I now know 5 people who have swapped from cabs to coupes and they say its a completely different car - cab are full of rsttles and I know this would hack you off big stylee.
S4 - Looks sooooo fecking dull. You might as well get a diesel and a bodykit, no fecker would no the difference.
RS4 - Agree with Andyroo, stock they need work, get one which has been professionnally modded and you'd be laughing.

Re: RS4 vs M3 vs New S4
Gents,
I was under the impression that the new S4 will perform similiar to the old S4 in terms of speed through the gears etc. The RS4 in turn is miles ahead of the old S4.
However, the above comments seem to suggest otherwise...please give this poor soul the lowdown on how these cars compare!!!
Cheers...Jem

I understand that u can get a bit complacent with Audi's and fancy something different, but I wish I'd never changed and glad 2 b back with 1.
Buy an and don't F**k arround

Re: RS4 vs M3 vs New S4
Thanks feelou..
In regards to the the new vrs old S4, is it not the case that the old can be modded to achieve better speeds due to the turbos, whereby the normally aspirated engine cannot be modded to acheive any further relevant speeds. Therefore, the old could be modded to surpass the speeds of the new.
Also, reading some of the postings on this website, it appears that you can change various aspects of the car to improve the road handling, ie, lower suspension, H&R springs etc. Would this not then match the new in the handling department?
The fundamental choice as to whether to get the old over new for me would be based on the styling factor. The new S4 reminds me too much of the current S6, which look OK, but is not in the same league as the old S4. It has a style of its own and is not mistaken for a VW Passat.
Any views would be welcome!!!
Cheers...Jem

Re: RS4 vs M3 vs New S4
0-62ph (seconds)
RS4: 4.9
M3 coupe: 5.0
new S4: 5.4
old S4: 5.7
Track performance Hockenheim
M3: 1.16.3
New S4: 1.18,1
some more to that last comparison (surprising!)
RS4: 1.18.2
old S4: 1.21.1
source track challenge RS4 vs S4tt
They've really made progress on the new S4, if it beats stock RS4. What do you need the wide arches and 2 turbos for thinks newS4 driver
