Coming back to the fold - anyone know this car?

Post by mikeyw » Mon Sep 02, 2019 5:47 pm

So, after a period away from an RS6, I am close to getting back into one.

Its not proving quite as simple as I hoped but thats mainly due to the other marques dealer not offering me what I was expecting for my current car, but thats another story.

So, i'm looking currently at this one:

VE66HCJ - its an interesting colour and decent spec, but not the PE. Not sure if I would notice that differential or not. The other specs are pretty much what i'd like. Had ceramics on my old PE and would have loved those but such is life!!

https://usedcars.audi.co.uk/usedcar/aud ... 895560.htm#

Would be keen to know if this was anyones on here ?

ta muchly - looking forward to getting back into RS land!

Don't know the car, but a nice spec - not sure you'd notice the difference in performance day to day. I don't in mine having had a non PE previous to the current daily sh1tter.

Looks nice but I wasn't keen on silver leather in my B5 S4. Got dirty with kids in the car (back of the front seats in particular) and my drivers side started to discolour (presumably from wearing dark jeans all the time). I could be wrong though.
I'm also considering one and have driven both the standard and PE within a week of each other and it was hard to tell the difference. Having said that the standard test drive wasn't at any real pace at whereas the PE was a feisty one and I loved it. Ridiculous power but obviously will need remapping :jump_clap: . Being a bloke I know if I buy a standard I will regret it within a month and wish I went for the PE. The standard car had HUD too which I really liked so I will be looking out for that in whatever I buy next.

Good luck with the search.
Shane

Thanks guys - I have my name down for the new model but I wont see that till April and I am really missing the RS. I also need more space for a second dog which wont fit in the GTS I have currently. I'm going to see it in flesh and see how it drives.....I am in 2 minds over the silver leather - not practical with a dog, but someone once said to me at least with lighter seats you can see the dirt and clean it off, whereas darker its just there......not sure i'm buying that and he was trying to sell me a car with a light interior so I guess had a vested interest!!!

I have a silver interior in my B7 and it gets used to carry dirty mountain bikes. Plus the wife has a horse so spends time at the stables as well.

Just clean it more often or get a Gtechniq sealer for it and it will be fine.

Front seats are 6 years old, rest of the interior is original.

hi Mike, that is a shame.... snooze you lose.... as a friend once told me!!

But it wasn't meant to be and another will come along soon!

Prism silver was high up on my list and they seem to be quite rare... there is one at Harrogate, spec isn't great but I do like the 'low key' silver...

Hang in there as the right one will come along.....

Keep us posted....

Thanks - I like the silver, quite under stated. You are right in terms of you snooze. Should have been more decisive as the guys in Cheltenham are good and they did look after me when I bought my first so it would have been nice to get another through them. But there are a few out there.....

So, have been offered first go at a PE in Glacier White - the spec and mileage is pretty much the same as this one:

https://usedcars.audi.co.uk/usedcar/aud ... 892246.htm#

Down side - No pano roof, but its winter so maybe not a biggie. No HUD but i've never had this but would quite like it, but it does have the Ceramics which I do love, and full leather too.

Glacier white isnt first choice of colour for me so i'm interested to know if we have any fellow white owners here ? The plus side is that it seems quite understated which would please my other half who is nervous about one back on the drive. I have reassured her that the mines and anti tank missiles will be in place soon!

Well, it seemed a normal colour kind of - rather than my predilection for bright metallic blue.....I take it you dont think a white one would be ?! Never thought of having a white one, but its the right spec pretty much.....I want to keep under the radar for obvious reasons so thought the white looked more like your regular A6...

Hi Mikeyw,

I know what you mean about white being more low key, a bit like silver, for some reason I don't think these colours show off the curved arches as much... BUT of course you can still tell them over an A6... I dont think they would be less likely to attract attention. One owner on here has recently had his white car stolen (don't tell the wife)!!

It seems there is debate over the popularity of White same as Misano Red. White and Red cars seem to be around longer at dealers.... I don't know why as I do love the red and was so close to buying one, but afterwards a dealer told me they are harder to shift....

HUD is a nice to have, but wouldn't be a show stopper... as I have just mentioned in another thread, you can set the digital display to show MPH which I use just about all of the time..

Pan roof - Again a funny one as I spoke to one specialist who told me they dont buy in any RS6s without one. Mine has one and I hardly ever use it, when its fully open you get a lot of wind noise, yes its nice on the odd occasion to have it tilted but again you can hear this. The main use it to let some light into the cabin, but I could easily do without and having now had one, it wouldn't be on my list of priorities for a future car..

Keep us posted....

Thanks Lig - my last one didnt have the HUD so thats no issue, but did have the Pano roof, and I like the light coming in for sure. Would I choose light over ceramic brakes though - probably would as ive had them before. Saw a white RS5 today and that did look nice. But its not blue, but then I will only keep this till April or May so its probably not a deal breaker. The white one in Derby has been on there a little while I think so you could have a point and that does have the dynamic pack Plus too.....so maybe I need to be wary on that front. Sadly I know all about stolen RS6's as mine was nicked which is why i moved to something else but i miss the car, and with a second dog now, my sporty SUV isnt the right thing so I need to change.
