Not posted on here for a long time....but maybe time to return. Planning on returning to the Audi stable with the new RS6 and have a 'deposit of interest' down already (refundable should I decide I don't like it)

Had a very excited dealer emailing me this morning with a link to a video (and I was pretty excited myself at the new car), now is the wait to get proper details, specs and more info on the car.

Be helpful to know if anyone who bought the early C7's was able to haggle any 'deal' whatsoever on them or is that totally unrealistic. The dealer intimated to me their will be limited numbers, but they always say that to increase demand. Probably not achievable but Id like to at least try once I get sight of prices etc

C8 RS6 finally revealed

Post by stevo55 » Wed Aug 21, 2019 12:25 pm

Wonder what this will do to C7 prices (I’ll be in the market soon so hoping there will be some wriggle room).
By the time the new one comes out (Easter?) the U.K. will have figured out that the sky hasn’t fallen and that all the self induced panicking wasn’t necessary. Having said that I fully expect us to plunge into a (hopefully) short recession (which didn’t need to happen but joe public-fuelled by a sensationalist media-will be lemmings) and then bounce back big time.
Or we could be about to fall of a cliff for a while in which case they will struggle to sell them in volume.
Edited to add:
It looks pretty good but not as aggressive as the C7 from the front?
Am sure we’ll all get used to it soon enough and it will be yet another winner. RS6 is a halo car for Audi that cannot fail.

Only thing i find strange is Audi don't appear to have done anything more with the C8 RS6 than fit the C8 body & tech. Drivetrain & Engine remain the same, as do (it appears) most of the mechanicals.

Does look nice, but at least BMW applied a totally different drivetrain to their new M5, with AWD & the RWD only mode being available (same as Merc). Saying that, BMW did little by way of engine upgrades on the new M5.

Now looks like the market difference will surely come down to Estate or Saloon as from a drivability perspective, the M5 'could' have a slight advantage now.
Isn't the engine new? Same as the Porsche one?

They have added rear wheel steering although someone said it was an optional extra.

Also read that matrix LED’s will be an option? That’s a bit mean seeing as they are stock on the (FL) C7?

LEDs were standard on C7 at facelift, matrix was the option.

I take that back they were standard at facelift. I think laser is the option here.

They've dropped the soft hybrid 48v battery in, but i believe the platform engine is the same as the C7 (could be wrong).

Pre facelift it was xenons as standard and LEDs as an option (not matrix though). Then facelift saw the matrix LEDs introduced and they were standard.

If I was staying in the UK I’d opt for a 2017/2018 performance and waiting for the C8 facelift.

From what I can gather from the videos, the rear wheel steering is an option in a pack with Sport steering and DRC, so it appears you can't have one without the other.
It'll be interesting to see how the Dynamic steering has evolved as on the B8 RS4, it wasn't great, and on the B9 it's better, but still not superb

May get a few terse comments on this but- at what stage do you think C7 prices will start to come down significantly due to the C8? C8 will be biblically expensive of course but a newer model always means the previous takes a hit.
My next proper car (as opposed to the run around POS am currently driving) is being penned for late Sept/October sometime and a C7 or RS7 are strong contenders.
I sold my 2017 M3 Competition a couple of months back as I didn’t drive it enough to justify keeping it. They are holding their values reasonably well (I got a very strong offer from a dealer and lost all of £399 settling the finance which is a first for me) but soon as the new one comes out early next year they will tumble.
Thoughts?
