Thoughts on this car

Post by jamesbilluk » Mon Jul 22, 2019 3:32 pm

Hi all

In due to go and see (and collect if I like it) a 2013 RS6 on Thursday. It's local to me, and I love the colour combination, the milage is on the higher side, but it seems in nice condition from the photos. Just wondering what I should be looking for on the day.

Not my colour choice but looks clean in the pics.

Has smaller wheels than standard and no panoramic roof.

Badges are a bit strange. Front is wonky and silver and rear badges are black.

Certainly is different, will see what it looks like in the metal, I usually go for the usual, silver or gun metal grey, so will be a nice a nice change.

Not too worried about the pano roof, had one on a Tiguan once, and baver had it open.

I did wonder about the badges, I did so der if it's had a bump, but looks to check out on HPI

Hi James,

I would ask them about the badges, as the front one doesn't look OEM which is a bit odd and the rears aren't either, as (to the best of my knowledge) you cant get black ones from Audi for the 6 (but the rears are less of a concern as lots of peeps change these to black).

It says its a one owner car, so the history should be straight forward and easy to check (also adds to the concern over the badges). IF you find out where it has been serviced, then you could call Audi, give them the reg and they should send you a spec list, just so you can confirm all the options (Dynamic pack etc)...

Yes mileage is high, but reflected in the price...

Wheels are standard 20".

Also shame it hasn't got a sports exhaust, but depends if you are fussed for the extra bit of noise, or maybe you are planning to mod it?!

IMHO the colour combo isn't very desirable and this could be a factor to consider for re-sale....

But having said that if you like the colour and spec then go for it as I would think there wont be many 'straight' ones about at this price point, providing it all looks good ...

Keep us updated.
Cheers,
Lig.

Hi Lig

Many thanks for the reply,

That is odd about the badges, wonder if someone had taken them, so had to be replaced.

After looking on the HPI, it seems to have one owner before the current one..

Exhaust wise, this is something I'll probably add in the future, and maybe a Remap...

I do very little milage, so that shouldn't increase too much, how are they at higher milage?

Will be interesting to see the colour in the flesh, can't even find it on the audi site, or weather it's metallic or flat red

I'd seen this one advertised and thought the colour looked good. Seems like a reasonable spec and the car looks to be in good condition even given the mileage. Check service history and ensure you test drive if your serious about it. You can go on the Audi website and put in the reg and confirm the spec etc.

Looking at the front RS6 badge, I'm sure I saw this car advertised privately a while back and it was badge less on the front. Whoever originally spec'd it went for an understated look. I suspect the badges have been put on post the original owner letting go of it.

Many thanks, yeah, will be taking it for a good drive, chap who I'm dealing with said to bring my license along.

Didn't know you could do that is that on the main audi site?

That makes sense with regards to the badges too :)

If you go to owners area and put in the reg it will give you the model, registration date and colour. However, it has to be once it's your own and it's registered to you then you get more detail on the spec it would seem.

Went ahead an purchased it :) Just got it home, it seems in lovely condition, the colour seems more metallic in the metal, and looks fantastic in the sun! Absolutely love the car, can't believe how well it goes for the weight it is. Plans for the future are maybe some larger wheels, and maybe a remap/sports exhaust at some point... it has the standard exhaust at the moment, which does sound nice ( and still louder than the Macan turbo I had)

Congrats.
Those wheels look good when painted a bit darker and some spacers added.

That look very smart!
What size are the spacers?

Crikey, been through so many spacers and wheels I struggle to remember, but I think that was 12mm on the front and 15mm on the rear. Also been lowered.
