Newbie Navigation Questions.....

Post by Lig » Mon Jun 17, 2019 4:01 pm

Hi all,

So I am guessing that the Nav Maps are on a SSD somewhere and not on a DVD or SD card....?!

Do the maps cover Europe? The world??

As my car is a 64 plate, I would guess they will be 5 years 'out of date', is it worth updating the maps and how easy is this to do and what does it cost OR is it best just to leave as it is?

Cheers in advance,
Lig.

Hi ab54666,

So have you used your sat nav a lot and found that you just haven't needed to update the maps? Have you used it in Europe without any issues?

Thanks,
Lig.

There was a tiny bit in France that was wrong but otherwise no issues.

That said you've just spurred me on to get it installed!

Lig,

I had it installed today, not yet been anywhere to test it but it's the up to date maps. Also with the MMI update seems to have got rid of a little gremlin I sometimes had where Dab could take a minute to work.

In theory you can update yourself if you have the tools to open the green screen or the ability to mess about with downloading files to an SD card from the net, but I left it to the professionals.

Ok thanks Ab54666,

So where did you buy the update and how much did it cost all in?

Cheers,
Lig.

I need to look back, maps were about £100 I think, someone on here posted where to get them, I took it to HazzyDayz to install although in theory you can do yourself.

They charge about £200 all in if you get the maps from them.

There's also this place;

https://upgrademyaudi.net/product-category/firmware/

You can put in your current firmware and it'll tell you what the latest version is.

Looks to be about £30 for the firmware and £50 for the maps. I think you have to do the firmware to match the maps, can't just do maps.
