Hello from a distant newbie.... and 1st question....

Post by Lig » Sun Jun 09, 2019 2:32 pm

Just thought I would introduce myself as I am now the very proud owner of a C7 RS6...

I used to have a C5 RS6, then changed for a B7 RS4 (which I never really got on with as I found it too small and the bucket seats uncomfy), then moved onto a Porsche 993 along with a BMW 535d, and have now just sold both and gone back to having the one car, the C7 RS6.

All I can say is WOW - I am absolutely over the moon with it, the looks (inside and out), the performance and handling... Just amazing!!

One question.... MMI.... It has with it a cable but when I plug in my iPhone, it does absolutely nothing. The phone connects via bluetooth no probs and I can play music etc via BT, but I was kind of hoping that I would at least be able to charge the phone via this lead. Can anyone help here, what should the cable actually do? It looks like an Audi OEM cable, not an eBay jobby...

Thanks and I will look forward to many chats on the forum!
Cheers,
Lig.

Do you have pre facelift or post facelift? Pre facelift had AMI sockets that you'd need deciated cables to plug your devices in i.e. one for old apple, one for lighnting, one for usb etc. If I'm not mistaken some of the cheaper cables had issues but you say yours is an OEM cable so should be ok. Maybe the cable is defective?
Post facelift cars gave up on the AMI cable and just gave you 2 USB sockets instead so you could plug anything you liked in as long as you had a USB cable for it. If this is what you have then just try another USB cable.

Hi MikeFish and thanks...

Its a pre facelift.... here is the cable.... Does it look OEM to you???

So I guess it could be a duff cable? Does the cable connection give anything more than the bluetooth connectivity?

I have that cable in my 2014 RS7 and it charges my iPhone X. Music works through it fine but I don’t use it, I just use Bluetooth as I like to have my phone on a vent mount so I can use Waze.

Thanks R33, yeah I think it is the cable that is duff as the connector is slightly wonky...

I have ordered a new one so will see how it goes....

Cheers,
Lig.
