Anyone else bored waiting

Post by Simon_M » Wed Dec 21, 2005 11:21 am

Well, as time goes by I am getting bored waiting.

The RS4 saloon has been in the press since last April yet no cars are available in the UK 8 months later. There is still no official word of the Avant either, which is the one I am waiting for.

All this time I seem to be getting less and less interested in the RS4, while more and more S-Lines hit the roads looking 90% identical to the RS4, and the B7 gets nearer the end of it's life.

There will be a new M3 very soon and a new E55 within a year or so too.

The Le Mans has only just been given the go-ahead for production but is expected at the very end of 2006 - so why the long dull wait for an old shape A4 with 420bhp?

Anyone else feel this way?

Simon

Yes it does seem to have taken an incredibly long time.

And as I've said before, the pics of the new RS just don't really do it for me. I want to like it but it just isn't happening - YET!

Pressing the "s" button did it for me "seats tightening" and the "engine exhaust note starting to growl" can't wait

I was just mentioning that to a buddy yesterday. Hard to believe it's been almost a year since I was at the RS4 reveal during the 25th Anniversary of quattro event in Ingolstadt.

Hard to think we still are waiting another 6 months here in the US...

personally i am thinking about giving up altogether and buying a old shape RS4 avant mainly because i can't get over my love/hate relationship with the rear lights of the new 4, it reminds me of a toyota, since thats all other drivers will ever see i think they could have done better....

Hi all, seems a shame that my first post is a whinge! I have had several Audi's from S4 to standard A4 and A6 as company cars and finally two S3's. I have been eagerly awaiting the RS4 Avant and despite searching this (an other) forums and pinging Audi UK I cannot find an official date for the RS4 Avant in the UK - does anyone know this (sorry for the if this is posted somewhere). What is the conscensus for the new platform introduction and a DSG on the RS4 - the geabox must be up to it if they put in in the Gallardo? This is probably near to swaering on this site (sorry) but I am thinking of getting a second hand Porsche 997 C2S as they are now in the same ballpark and I am fed up waiting, but I really originally wanted the RS4 Avant as I don't want to be hated by all other road users.... now seems that by the time audi produce it it will be the outgoing version of the A4.....

Is the B7 really that close to the end of its life...?

To those of you who havent seen it in the flesh - I think you'll love it!

B7 saloon has 18 months left. Avant probably two years. S and RS derivatives obviously much longer. I am banking on a new S4 Avant in late 08 so again there will be a year or so when no S4 is avail. RS4...who knows but I can't be arsed buying a new B7 RS4 Avant next autumn when the mags will be full of the B8 A4 a couple of months later.

doc, presume you got your deposit back? Does anyone know the cut-off point or any clearly defined rules as to when you can change your mind? Not planning on doing it. just interested. Hypothetically speaking here, what happends if I start seeing Avants on the road despite my dealer stating I am within their first allocation? Does one have grounds to claim the money back? Or does all this become clearer nearer the time?

Thanks

Well hopefully the only Avant you will see on the road will be mine!!! Image

I thought the deposit was refundable until you spec the car for order...saying that as long as you don't spec mint green I would expect the dealer to move it on with ease.....

I've had mine on order in the US now for 2 months, but am also losing faith in waiting. There are so many muscle cars here, but of course not AWD monsters with a beautiful interior. What to do???

Have a word with yourself.... 2 months!! I've had one on order since 2002, and am expenting delivery mid 2007.

But my question is will it be worth the wait. This will be an extra vehicle for me and there are lots of nice cars in that price range. My father has owned many Audis which I loved to drive. There is just so many choiced now and I am not sure if this is going to be worth the wait. Any of you more experienced Audi owners will know better than myself though.
