Roof bars and bike racks

Post by tonybrown5 » Mon Mar 25, 2019 3:37 pm

Hi all,
Looking to get a pair of bars for the roof plus a couple of racks for the bikes. Ideally I'm after some thule aero but looking on Ebay for c7 racks many have a fitting kit that doesn't look right for the rails on my 2016 model. Do any of you run with thule bars and if so can you post a pic up of the fitting?

Thank you for that. Are they the aero bars as well? How do you find wind noise when boot in use?

Wind noise is not a problem in the UK.

Congested motorways and plenty of camera speed enforcement means you never hear the roofbox or the roof bars.

Darting around the continent is a different matter...

When you’ve got a few bikes strapped to the top of the car it doesn’t matter if they’re aero bars or not, you’re gonna get a fair amount of wind noise in the cabin.

I personally have the Halfords Exodus roof bars with a couple of Thule bike racks. The wind noise isn’t deafening but you can definitely hear it.
I’ve also got a 2 bike sea sucker type mount which is convenient, quick to install but you need to be careful with this type of mounting. The suction cups do tend to cause micro scratches in the paint even when you install them on perfectly clean paintwork and lube the suction cups up!
