Sticking clutch pedal rs4 b7
Sticking clutch pedal rs4 b7
Hi guys ive read through so manny things on here about this issue wen driving the car hard the clutch pedal sticks down some are saying a return pipe others saying its the fluid , so i have decided to be sure im going to replace the lot, Clutch, return pipe. DMF and put some new fluid in also, ive been pricing parts myself and been quoted 575 inc vat to fit wich seems reasonable but i cant seem to find wich pipe is the return pipe and i am ordering the DMF from rock auto but before i do has anyone ordered from them before? and if so was it the right part? and also can some one either share a part number or where i can get the return pipe from please this would be much help thanks in advance
Re: Sticking clutch pedal rs4 b7
There’s a guy on here called Robnic if I remember right. He does uprated return pipe. Maybe give him a pm and see what he says.

You're taking the right approach DritsyRS4, too many people speculate and think of a quick fix. I did the same and never looked back.

Re: Sticking clutch pedal rs4 b7
That’s all well and good and I do agree about doing the job right but surely only one of the items replaced actually fixed the problem? Maybe not a quick fix but the right fix.

Re: Sticking clutch pedal rs4 b7
Hi I ordered a DMF (LUK DMF077) from RockAuto in Aug 2017 for $394.89 which I think equated to £305. The freight charge was $40.99 but can't remember if this was on top of the £305 or included. No matter as still a good price and wasn't charged import duty which was a bonus!DritsyRS4 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 22, 2018 5:36 pmHi guys ive read through so manny things on here about this issue wen driving the car hard the clutch pedal sticks down some are saying a return pipe others saying its the fluid , so i have decided to be sure im going to replace the lot, Clutch, return pipe. Re: Sticking clutch pedal rs4 b7
I think probably because once it’s happened you’ve inevitably fried the clutch and flywheel. The other parts are a small cost and can still fail so replace all whilst it’s out and pay the labour once.
A bit like changing a water pump when doing a timing belt.
Re: Sticking clutch pedal rs4 b7
Thanks guys, i have spoken to Robnic he has PM'd me with his garage details hes about 2 hours from me but as none of the local garages here have ever delt with a RS4 before i would be happy to make the drive to him as he seems to be the go to guy here and he also offered a car to drive while hes fixing mine!
your right Marc1 labour is around 600 so for the sake of it might as well replace the lot and have piece of mind
and thank you Jezza i shall get the flywheel ordered £303 + £32.84 shipping i have allowed for 20% import tax but even still thats a total of around 405 pounds for a flywheel wen the cheapest here ive found was 880! seems like a bargain to me, shes just had the rear breaks skimmed and new pads ive put new discs pads at the front , and just got 4 new tyres for her, and a oil and filter change, they like to drain your bank account but i new what i was getting into wen i bought a car on high milage all things considered tho shes been looked after well and through all the paper work this is her first ever clutch change!!

Re: Sticking clutch pedal rs4 b7
Before you spend big bucks, change the clutch fluid to Dot 5.1 (higher boiling point). I had exactly the same problem, changed several mechanical parts to no avail. Fluid solved it immediately and permanently. Have pointed this out on several occasions here but no-one seems to listen!

Re: Sticking clutch pedal rs4 b7
I put Motul RBF600 in mine as a precautionary measure. Think that’s Dot 4 though. Is that not likely to be sufficient then? Clutch and everything else changed 15k miles ago.
Re: Sticking clutch pedal rs4 b7
That I don't know, but probably worth trying 5.1 before you spend a few hundred. Clutch fluid is dirt cheap after all!
(And if it is boiling fluid that's the problem, changing mechanical parts isn't likely to solve it completely, if at all. Good luck!)

Re: Sticking clutch pedal rs4 b7
thanks mate but its on 107k miles and never had a new clutch from the paperwork it has its well over due one so she shall get one but i will get the dot 5.1 put in also
Re: Sticking clutch pedal rs4 b7
My clutch lasted more than 80k, with plenty of enthusiastic step-off driving. If the clutch is worn, the bite point will be heading towards the floor, and mine started to feel 'gritty' underfoot when engaging as well as requiring noticeably more effort. Any symptoms like that?

Re: Sticking clutch pedal rs4 b7
no the pedal just sticks down after its been driven hard and sometimes its a bit awkward going into first, plus the smell of burning after a launch didnt give me much confidence and now the engine breaking is virtually none existent
Re: Sticking clutch pedal rs4 b7
Difficulty engaging gear can be clutch, wouldn't be surprised if it was after 107k but I'd also expect the bite point to have lowered. Clutch fluid isn't a big job, so I reckon do that first and see what symptoms remain.
