Opinions please

Post by Markwes » Wed Sep 19, 2018 8:25 pm

Hi Guys, I’m looking for some experienced owners opinions on the below car:
https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified ... 8189621105

I’ve currently got a B7 RS4 bread van and looking to upgrade to C7. Is there anything I should be looking for on a high mileage C7?

I’m on a tight budget, hence looking at high mileage examples!

Cheers,
Mark

TBH mate if I was on a budget I’d probably go the same route. I see it’s one owner? For that sort of mileage probably mainly cruising on motorways. If it’s had full service history plus all the bits done as stated in the ad it’s a cracking price but also one you could have a good bit of negotiating with. It has performance edition wheels but thought they came out later than a 14 plate. Not sure though but many other on here would know possibly a FL car??

FL didn’t appear until 2015. Wheels have been swapped.

I’m more interested in the things I should be checking if I decide to go and see it.
On my B7 it was things like clutch, brakes, oil cooler etc.

Is there any common problems I should look out for with the C7? Especially on a higher mileage car.

It certainly looks and sounds like it’s been looked. After, but it’s what’s underneath that worries me.

Thanks
Mark.

And those wheels didn't make an appearance until 2016.

Don't think anyone really knows as they are mainly still lowish mileage. It will be a while until we see a bunch of cars with 100k plus miles to be able to answer your question properly. In fact, if you buy this car you will be able to advise others on the this question in a few years. I've only seen the odd car on here with over 50k miles. Or maybe there are loads and there are no issues so we don't hear about them on here.

If you're on a budget, factor in a warranty, then just enjoy the car. Job done.
No matter where you go, there you are.

Hate to bring it up again, but you still always have the S6 as an option. I know technically not the same beside the 4.0l cubic cilinders (different turbos, cooling system, pistons, compression, gearbox, exterior,.....) but at least here it was a 20.000€ difference between them (heck i even got ceramic breaks on my S).
Sure stock you can't compair them, but if you willing to tune it they can be as fun as an RS :).
As a bonus they are sleepers and don't attract thieves or other unwanted people.
Anyway, just giving the option :).

I think it’s definitely going to be a bit of a gamble if I decide to pull the trigger, like Mike said there isn’t many about with these sorts of miles on them so it’s a bit of an unknown!

We’ll just have to see

Looks genuine and at least you know the mileage is what it is, there'll be plenty of C7 owners that bought high mileage and didnt know it. C7 is very easy to have mileage taken back on plug in and with mileage being so punishing on lease deals you can bet there being taken advantage of before going back . New merc is difficult but they just have that ghost device that's activated from the settings in the car you would think manufactures could get a handle on this once and for all.

Bought mine just shy of 60K earlier this year, and now just easing towards 70K. All running beautifully so far! :jump_clap:

I have the 5 year Audi waranty due to expire before the year end, so it's about to go to a friendly master tech for an end of warranty check!

(Ducks, and runs for cover as the gremlins emerge!) :bash:

Are you going to extend the warranty Dave when it runs out as mine is due to expire next month. But I’m in two minds whether to sell or keep and extend.

I'm not going to extend (didn't actually check to see if I could) - small matter of a trip to MRC anticipated to let them weave their magic once the warranty is gone   :FIREdevil:

Jesus get a fully comp warranty on this if you’re buying it and negotiate on price.
