Perfect, as you said Mike. Thanks!MikeFish wrote:Yes from memory the top switch was just twist out, unplug, connect plug to new switch, insert and twist. No pushing of the pedal during installation.
The lower switch needs the clutch pressed during installation.
Anyone here changed their clutch switch?

Re: Anyone here changed their clutch switch?
Hi all,
Apologies for dragging up an old thread!
Story so far...
Starting the car over the last year has occasionally been a problem - but only after long journeys, about 150 miles non stop. Then trying to start it less than hour after shutting it down - doesn't start.
It's been fine on short journeys - 10 miles or so.
So thought the relay on the starter was on its way out.
Had the starter replaced with an OE item 2 days ago and now the problem's worse. Just done 4 miles and then it wouldn't start again after an hour.
(Similar thing happened after I'd picked it up after having the starter replaced.)
Left it for another hour and it started...
I've ordered the clutch switches so hopefully get them done tomoz.
Any other ideas/experiences?
Cheers
Mike

Re: Anyone here changed their clutch switch?
If that doesnt fix it, it is probably worth starting a new thread for help.
Re: Anyone here changed their clutch switch?
Cheers Mike,
The only other thing I can think of is the '381' relay under the ecu...
Hey ho...
See what happens

Re: Anyone here changed their clutch switch?
I just had the starter relay changed as it was cheaper than going all out for a new starter. Seems to have cured my problems.
Worth trying.

Anyone would have a copy of the section "Remove storage compartment on driver's side: General body repairs, interior: Rep.GR.68"?Surrey Sam wrote: ↑Mon Apr 06, 2015 10:12 amNever had to do either of these switches myself, but here is the info ELSA has on the process. If that's any help to you both?

Re: Anyone here changed their clutch switch?
Just to let anyone know who has the problems mentioned above, the new updated upper clutch switch is much more substantial than the previous one.
There is no need to ‘pull the plunger’ out before inserting, however the clutch pedal should be left in its resting position as in the old fitting instructions.
I should also clarify that my symptoms were: had to hold starter down, no cruise control, and jerky gear changes. These were all fixed by just changing the upper clutch switch.
Thanks for the advice to those previous posters.
