Retrofitting Options

Post by aerospace100 » Wed Aug 22, 2018 1:16 pm

Has anyone retrofitted factory options which the car did not come with and is this something which can be done at the stealer?

such as...

- HUD
- Audi Exclusive wheel/trim
- Double glazing
- Blind spot detection
- Active cruise control
- Lane assist

etc etc...

I haven't personally had anything retro fitted, but if I did I bet these guys are probably cheaper then the dealers.... https://www.hazzydayz.com/a6-4g-s6-4g-r ... -138-c.asp

Anything can be done for a price. Don’t expect any of that to be cheap. It’d be lost spend, you wouldn’t see it back on resale.

HUD would be an entire new dash as there’s a cut out for the projection.

Someone looked at double glazing and it was prohibitive as it’s not just the glass.

ACC/lane assist will need replacement mirrors plus the radar plus the cameras.

It’d be cheaper to buy a car that had it spec’d.

Yeah I agree that it would be cheaper buying a new car, especially with those examples. Surely an alcantara headline is an option though?

A trimmers will be able to sort that, quite a lot of dismantling though. Something that makes me cringe as inevitable that something will rattle or squeak afterwards.

Its very true that as soon as trim and plastics of that nature are dismantled, its never the same again after its put back together. I guess I just have the itch to try and improve the luxury of the interior without looking like I've just drove through Halfords.

HUD will require a new windscreen too.

Ive done the HUD, side assist, lane assist and a ton of other retrofits. Never been an issue with trim not fitting back or creaking etc. Depends how methodical and ocd you are. see my sig...
Done quite a few other cars too for customers and never had any complaints.
Again depends whats important to you and whether you want something standard or a bit bespoke

No need to go neidfaktor when there are plenty of good UK retrimmers. Plush's work is very good, just look at Faisals RS4 which was done a while ago and is stunning. Didn't Jonytek have his done too?

It’s very simple I like the performance edition seats with Alcantara centres but didn’t want to pay a fortune for a performance car so getting leather replaced
