Any S4 owners in Oz ?

Post by stan » Mon Nov 28, 2005 8:14 pm

I'm emigrating to Sydney in January and will be shipping the S4 over with me.

Has anybody here imported a UK vehicle to Oz ?
Any idea of how much it will cost to get the car approved for road use in Oz?
Any recommended Audi garages in the Sydney area (independent or official)?

Audi UK have quoted unit is GBP330 + fitting for the replacement dash (miles to km) so I could get that done here before I ship the car as the parts may be cheaper.

Have a look on www.ozaudi.com - plenty of very helpful S4 owners there plus a couple of recommended audi mechanics

Derek Smith at www.europeanautotech.com.au in the northern suburbs of Sydney knows audis well and speaks your language. He has worked on my car for me before and albeit that I am now 5000km's away he remains very helpful.

Have also seen favourable references to others on the ozaudi site but no personal experience with them.

Try reading it upside down as if you were in Oz already....

I know a few people have imported cars from Oz to UK, due to availability and cost savings, but I would of thought exporting from UK to Oz was a waste of money, sell in the UK and buy an Oz S4 when you get there?

You will find its well worth importing a low milage luxury car from UK to Oz as the prices here tend to be over a 1/3 higher.

I believe as long as you have own the car for a minimum time 6 months or so and it is for personal use they will not charge you any import duty on the car. There is a website about it somewhere.

i believe ther is an import tax set at a % of vehicle value. mate shipped out an mg, but had to reship it back cos he could not afford the import tax

may vary between states?

try oz customs etc, they sould be able to tell you exactly
