Dealer service costs.......
Anyone find a vast difference in service quotes between the Audi website and speaking to the dealer direct.
For a major service ive just been quoted £660 online, and £815 over the phone! Whats that all about? #stealers

There can be quite a difference between different dealers of the same group in the same local area. I would suggest shopping around to see what the best deal is that you can get. I would always recommend supplying your own oil as well to save on the overall cost as it is expensive through Audi as they add their mark-up.

Re: Dealer service costs.......
The other way to save money is supply your own oil. I did that on my last two services the dealer wanted over £200 for oil alone and I bought it for £60 and supplied myself.
Re: Dealer service costs.......
All my local stealers are not allowing you to bring in your own oil now
Re: Dealer service costs.......
My Audi dealer charged me £82.45 plus VAT
Re: Dealer service costs.......
They should match opie oil prices if they want your business, they sting you on labour so it’s not like it’s bad business for them.miatang wrote:All my local stealers are not allowing you to bring in your own oil now

I can see why they wouldn't allow self supplied oil. they'll offer some level of warranty against any job they do, so having a closed supply loop will enable them to point blame much easier. cost matching on "parts" should be standard. no need to pay over the odds...

I don't believe they can refuse to use your own oil, as long as it meets the VW specification for the service being carried out. My dealership always uses the oil I provide.

Re: Dealer service costs.......
I had this problem the last time and only one dealer came through. I actually rang that same dealer again a couple days ago for an oil change and they said no more supplying your own oil.Surrey Sam wrote: ↑Thu Apr 19, 2018 4:17 pmI don't believe they can refuse to use your own oil, as long as it meets the VW specification for the service being carried out. Then just book the service and turn up on the day with your own oil.
On the day make it clear - the oil you want using is in the car and that you will not pay for dealer supplied oil. I doubt they'd turn you away having allocated the amount of hours for a service, as it'd cut their nose to spite their face.

Re: Dealer service costs.......
My point on this one is; how do they categorically know that the oil you provide meets those standards? Sure it can be printed on a container, but there’s no guarantee that that’s what is in the bottle...yep unlikely to be anything other than what’s described. But if it wasn’t, how can the dealer use that in confidence?Surrey Sam wrote: ↑Thu Apr 19, 2018 4:17 pmI don't believe they can refuse to use your own oil, as long as it meets the VW specification for the service being carried out. As i say, paying actual cost (or what you’d expect to pay retail) for parts seems the only fair way, their uplift should only be labour and VAT where required.

Re: Dealer service costs.......
Why should they let you supply your own oil?
If that’s how you want to do it, use a non Audi garage.
You don’t go to a restaurant and take your own food and tell them to cook it.....

Completely agree. You’ve got a 65k car after all and you’re worrying about £100 ?MK2Golf24v wrote: ↑Thu Apr 19, 2018 7:56 pmWhy should they let you supply your own oil?

1. That is why someone has a £65K car
2. Why should you pay £200 plus for oil that you can buy for retail not even trade at £65.
As for the food analogy it’s like VAT value added there is no value added to the oil it’s like taking your own salt. It’s not like taking raw ingredients and mastering up an amazing meal that has already been done and that is in the £65K

Dealers buy in bulk from the spot market, it turns up in lorrys and gets pumped into bunkers. Could be one brand one week and 3 weeks later another all mixed in together.
