Rear wiper delete for 2015 RS6 C7

Driven it in pouring rain.. so again I’m confused, how can I not see out the back window?

Incidentally if it was a major problem do you think manufacturers would offer it as an option?? The rear wiper delete does nothing to impair vision in bad weather, the window is slanted enough to not hold the water on screen and if you have sufficient glass protection on then the water just streams off meaning no need for rear wiper.... and a C7 looks so much better without a wiper

Not sure about the cosmetics it’s a two tonne estate car not an 812.

The point of a rear wiper on an Avant, in my opinion, is not for clearing rain. The steeper angle of the rear of the car (over a saloon) causes more air vortexes, pulling up dirt and the rear window is always caked on my car. It’s also the lack of rain you get on it (for the same reasons) that means dirt doesn’t clear off well in rain at all either. I find I need the rear wiper and washer a lot in this country!
Not saying it won’t look better without one though

Well done doodlebug you drove one for two years... excellent. An yes I know it’s an estate car and not an 812 thanks for pointing it out though, I guess maybe someone on here might have bought one mistaking it for an 812...

Hi Bn8952 haven’t found that too much to be honest but as I say there is a fair amount of glass protection on mine so wet weather just runs off it and in terms of dirt I regularly clean it so that doesn’t bother me too much... the cosmetic look of it without the wiper in my opinion is far better and as was the case with my previous marque of 911 ownership where they charged extra for the rear wiper! But they looked far better without it!!

But you don’t need a rear wiper on a 911!! It doesn’t get dirty and it does clear rain.

And I own a 911 too (with no wiper) but would not delete the wiper on my RS6 which I use regularly at the moment. But each to their own. Personally I don't care what my arse looks like and prefer function over form - it's a daily estate car after all with a fairly bland back side, plus the dog likes to see out.

Yes of course having no rear wiper will make it harder to see out of the back window at times, so although I might not be able to read the number plate of the car behind I can still tell how far behind it is and how quickly it is coming up behind me. And the water repellent keeps keep it clean, and regular washing also helps. And I always have a bottle of waterless wash and a microfibre in the boot in case it gets that bad. Yes, some of you will consider this too much of an inconvenience and that's fine, no one is asking you to do it. But some of us think the inconvenience is acceptable to do away with that big ugly bit of unsymmetrical plastic hanging off the back of the car.
Having owned saloons with no rear wipers for most of my life I can say their rear screens don't get as dirty as most of the dirt / spray hits the rear of the car and the rear window is much further in a saloon than on an Avant so the Avant rear screen collects much for spray.
I've been running no rear wiper for about 2 years on the C7 with no issues other than an occasional wipe when I get home and it is really wet. The combo of water repellent, regular cleaning, wing mirrors, rear view camera and parking sensors make it a very small issue.
And come on Doodle, are you saying none of us should mod our cars in any way to make them look better unless we own an 812? One could argue if you own an 812 you don't need to mod it to make it look prettier and it's the 'uglier' cars like the C7 that need all the help they can get.

Have to agree with Mark. Personally I find the more you can see out all round, when you need to the better, especially if there may be a child or animal lurking not too far behind the car, ready to run out! The best product I've found to date, by far, for clearing the rain and making it hard for dirt to stick in the first place is Rain Racer. Perhaps its down to the fact that some of us have more need to reverse back significant distances, eg. down other peoples narrow drives, including down single lane muddy farm tracks.
On the subject of looks, my friend wishes he could see more out of his R8's rear window in the rain and wishes it had a wiper. Aesthetics wise I can see why it doesn't have one, but as for the RS6 C7 .....

I noticed in your signature you have a Performance with TV. Was this a retrofit or did you get the comfort seats?
