Was expecting it to be more orange than this, looking forward to seeing it finished.
Yeah, me too. There were only 2 genuine Papaya’s this side of the pond. One, I think was wrecked and the other gained mystical status. It was owned by a professional photog.

Essentially I'm trying to replicate that. Titanium mirrors. Blacked grille. Black badges, and window trim.

Let's hope it turns out as well. Might not look quite as exciting under dull Leeds sky though :D

I thought the world essentially ended at the Watford Gap. 😉

I personally think the RS4 looks epic in Papaya with the black optics pkg but the OEM 19” in titanium would finish it off perfectly.

Today's update: doors painted and it looks like lacquer has been applied to these and the side panels. Really starting to come together now!

i dont want to be negative here but i have to agree with some of the other posters about your painters technique/working practices, they are not what you would expect from a "professional" paint Shop. if you have paid decent money for this job i would be very concerned.

i hope it works out for you and your happy but i can see trouble ahead...

It needs to be machined yet don't forget. I do see the peel though and I hope it flattens out with the polish.

...If not I'll take it down to Jim White and he can work some wizardry on it.

I was speaking to Clive at Motocraft yesterday and I mentioned him not wanting to paint your car. He said he would have done it for £5-6k but didn’t think it need it and was offering professional advice not to do it. With regard to how your painters working. Said paint should stick but it’s not the best way to do it on a mint car. The lack of primer to bond to means you may have issues with stone chips and jet washing near stone chips

Thanks for the info. While I did appreciate his advice and have no doubt he was right, sometimes you just have to do these things. You only live once :)

absolutely not true, primer doesn't need to be used for adhesion perposes. as long as the original paint is sound, keyed/flatted correctly and cleaned correctly the new paint will stick just fine.
