S4 MAF help ...

Post by Nige_RS4 » Mon Nov 14, 2005 11:01 am

Need a new Bosch MAF, what's the verdict on a new one - has anyone just replaced the sensor part, or is it easier getting a new one @ £70 for a refurb unit?

Is there a part number for the sensor part?

TIA.

get the refurb one and just switch the sensors. thats what I did while the partsguy was like WTF. But I dont see why I would have to really switch the housing also as its much less trouble just reinstallin the sensor although its security torx or similar. I just used right sized flat to open it.

I have to confess to switching sensors and returning it back to Audi and saying it did not fix the problem.

I think they deserve it IMHO.

My RS4 MAF came with funny 5 point security Torx with pillar in the middle. Probably designed to stop people swapping sensors.

Already got a tool for that, which is why I'm wondering if the sensor on its own is cheaper than buying a recon MAF? Is it any cheaper from VAG-parts?

Nige.

ETKA lists it as a single part. Suspect you can only buy it as a housing and sensor.

Oh, you are BAD ; )

BTW, the security torx does come of with normal flat screwdriver like I stated earlier

I know, I have a security bit set...

however these are a five point square torx with centre nipple. Not the usual six point ones, with the centre nipple I don't think you'll get a flat blade in the slots. Just my 2 pence.

If it works great....If it doesn't you have been warned.
