Re: Ordered one
Using automated manual as group term for single/dual clutch/PDK type robotised boxes versus full manual and torque converter / slush tiptronic / automatic.
Re: Ordered one
I had a 2014 RS5 (which is essentially the same as the B8) and think the new engine and gear box are on another level.
You don’t get the V8 noise (obviously) but apart from that I love it!
Current - 2017 Nardo RS5

Re: Ordered one
Indeed. Those who have tried it, get it. If you haven't tried the new car, have a go. I was mightily surprised - as I think most people are.
Re: Ordered one
The ZF8 is used in lots of other cars, LOADS.
ZF8 appears to be a revolution in torque converter autos. Its now OK to fit one to a performance car. It is in the Alfa Gulia Quad and the new M5, and will be in the new M3.
All the reviews have always been positive, ALL. It's obviously a very good box.
ZF8 will possibly be a fraction of a second slower on Nurburgring but much better in road traffic and everyday use.

Re: Ordered one
I'm not sure it's quite as good as the DSG in my B8 having driven them back to back, but it's certainly decent and a lot better than the box in the M4 I had for a few weeks to use recently.
Getting my order in tomorrow, can't wait
Going for Nardo
Black/Anthracite 20" wheels
Sound and comfort pack
Black styling pack
sports exhaust
electric seats
Privacy glass

Re: Ordered one
No, not this time
They're a nice to have rather than a need to have, and although the driving benefits are pretty big with the reduction of unsprung weight, they're also a very expensive ticking time bomb if you damage one (£6,400 for the front discs alone)
I went a bit silly on the spec of my current B8 as I was feeling flush at the time, and the reality is, I barely use half the stuff I spec'd, so I'm going a bit more realistic this time.
For example, I don't think I opened the Panoramic roof once last year, but still had to pay to have it serviced, and I never use the lane assist other than the novelty when I first got the car in 2014 to show my kids it could steer for itself

Having just had to have the DRC changed in my car, I don't think I'll bother with that either as I've only ever used the dynamic setting once, and it was too stiff for even the smoothest surface. You'd have hoped that after all the issues with the B7, Audi would've fixed or ditched the system for the B8, but mine's been in twice for damper replacements now. Luckily, it's been covered by the warranty both times
I've not driven a B9 without the dynamic suspension, but did drive a B8 without it and it rode just as well as the Dynamic car in its comfort setting, which is what I drive around in anyway
