Oil cooler DIY
Re: Oil cooler DIY
Well maybe didn't save as much as I thought.
Re: Oil cooler DIY
I’m not questioning you mate, just trying to figure out the best options for myself. All in the forge oil cooler & pipes & brackets have cost me £880. If I have my local specialist fit the cooler it will probably cost around £1000 - £1100 all in. will be getting the clutch/flywheel etc done at the same time, so may get a bit discount overall.

Re: Oil cooler DIY
No problem mate. I don't have the figures in from of me but I was originally quoted on OEM parts (I assume) which would have been something like 900 for the cooler and another 400 for pipes and then there was fitting. Obviously I wasn't gonna go for that. I paid 425 for the cooler and another 325 for the pipes and did myself.
From what I've heard there is no benefit with the Forge kit, I couldn't find one on the shelf anyway so I just went with the Radtec. After doing a 2000+ mile trip through France over the last 8 days the cooler held the same temps as the OEM.
If you like a bit of DIY i'd recommend doing the cooler yourself. Was good fun and only took a few hours.

Re: Oil cooler DIY
I'm sure the OEM parts cost more than the Forge system, so maybe you’re not far off. I think I read somewhere that is cost a member £1250 fitted with OEM parts. If I fit myself it will only cost the cost of the kit.jonytek wrote: ↑Sun Dec 31, 2017 1:04 pmNo problem mate. I am pretty handy & I was planning on fitting myself, but the specialist who will be doing my clutch will probably do the cooler also for an additional £100, so I’ll just get them to do it at that price. Saves me the hassle.

Re: Oil cooler DIY
This is the cooler. I bought through eBay and got it cheaper than through the website. Give them a call before just to confirm.

Re: Oil cooler DIY
Cheers mate !
Appreciate it .. gonna try salvage the cooler first by chopping the old pipes off !
but at least i got an out clause if needing to change the cooler out .
Did you dump all the oil ?
Luke, you got specs on those fittings you made up ? might as well go that approach too as have a machine Shop where i work .

Re: Oil cooler DIY
Don't need to dump the oil. You'll need a pan underneath but only oil form the pipes will come out, just top up when you're done. It's really easy mate.Tommcole wrote: ↑Mon Jan 15, 2018 11:13 amCheers mate !
