Badge Swap
Badge Swap
Guys could do with some help please,
So the b7 is going in for a full detail soon and I thought I’d put the badges back to the factory chrome badges front and back, went to my local TPS who advised me that you can’t buy the audi rings badge for the B7 RS4 front grill without buying the full grille which was coming at over 500 quid?!
So I bought the standard A4 rings badge for the front praying that it will fit. Has anyone done this and had any luck? Do I need to have the bumper removed or can I unclip it with some tools?
This is how it looks currently
Moving onto the rear, is there any sort of guide on how to place these in their original position as they currently look very off!
I bought a few other bits and bobs too and funnily enough the R8 caps were more expensive than the bloody badges combined!
Any help would be much appreciated guys
Thanks

Re: Badge Swap
Always wondered why you °de-badge" grill rings. The best logo ever. Keep always in chrome...RS4LAD wrote:Guys could do with some help please,

Re: Badge Swap
I bought the car like this mate, I can see why the previous owner done it as it gives it much more of a meaner stance but personally I prefer the oem look.rha1209 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 21, 2017 7:47 amAlways wondered why you °de-badge" grill rings. Re: Badge Swap
I did try and get the front off a while back but ended up having to take the bumper off. I think others have done it but I couldn't get it off.
With the rears I marked where they are with some tape and then used a hair dryer and fishing line to get it off. If you don't think they're in the correct position there was a thread here recently with some measurements, try a search.

Re: Badge Swap
If you are not worried about breaking a few tabs on the old black rings then it is not too difficult to remove using plastic trim removal tools or a thin screwdriver with a bit of tape around the end for protection.
Re: Badge Swap
Quite simply because it's not chrome, it's cheap plastic pretending to be chrome and looks cheap and nasty. Real chrome on a 1960s AC Cobra looks good, cheap plastic fake chrome on a noughties car looks bad. Fake chrome is a bit 80s/90s (although some of the 1980s cars probably still had real chrome.rha1209 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 21, 2017 7:47 amAlways wondered why you °de-badge" grill rings. Also, the RS range is normally devoid of any other chrome, even Audi leave it to the A and S cars and not the RS range other than the rings (and some tailpipes).
Re: Badge Swap
Thanks Mike, not bothered about current rings. Main concern is damaging the actual grille. Do I just simply click the new one into place mate?
Re: Badge Swap
Yes, have you seen the back of the new one yet? It just has a series of plastic tabs that will click into place as you press it in.
Re: Badge Swap
Swapping front rings just takes a few minutes... Use a taped up screwdriver or plastic trim tool and they pop out very easily. Just be patient.. DO NOT buy a new grille!!!

Re: Badge Swap
Tbh I haven’t even took it out the wrapper mate I’m going to give this a shot tomorrow. But Iv got a feeling I’m going to want to put the black one back on after.
Re: Badge Swap
Yeah I will attempt with a taped up screwdriver mate thank you. Wow Why does that b7 look so beautiful

Re: Badge Swap
Did this today guys, black one came off piece of piss. However the chrome one was fidgety as <beep> to get on! Was very stiff and had to wriggle it in place there was one tab in particular at the top that took the piss! Had to gently push it down and it flew into place! Looks great now and a perfect fit.
Just to confirm then the stealers were chatting <beep> and you can just buy a standard a4 rings badge and it fits perfectly. Pic to follow when car is washed
Thanks again guys!

Re: Badge Swap
Part number for anybody that wants it in the future can’t remember how much it was exactly but it was around £25
