New to me 2015 RS6 - some questions

Post by sasha320 » Sun Dec 24, 2017 6:11 pm

Hi, I've just bought into a 2015 white Audi RS6 C7 with every option ticked except ceramics.

I had an RS4 B8 a while ago and loved it! Family requirements forced me into an SUV which was OK, but when my car change came up, getting back into a bigger RS car was the obvious choice.

I have a few questions to test the knowledge of dedicated forum members if you can spare the time! I've done quite a bit of searching but not found much on the below topics...

1. The brakes squeal when slowing to a stop, aside from being irritating is this a big deal and is there an easy remedy?

2. Am I able to upgrade / retrofit a QI wireless charging to the armrest phone box already fitted? The rubberised phone tray does not charge.

3. I notice that 285/30/21 tyres (winter or summer) are pretty expensive (c£300 each), is there a go-to place where I can find them cheaper? My point of reference is pretty widespread availability for 295/35/21 tyres at £220 each.

4. I'm in the market for a set of RS6 performance alloys with tyre pressure sensors if anybody knows of anybody selling a set? I don't mind if the wheels have winter or summer tyres fitted or none at all.

5. There's no reference in the user manual (that I can find) to any area of the windscreen being 'clear' for a remote tag device e.g., a toll booth tag - does anyone know of any?

6. Does this RS6 have to have a cambelt replaced as a service item?

Thanks in advance for any advice, thoughts, answers etc.!

Merry Xmas!

Hi, with regards to item 5, I had a sanef tag in mine, was behind the rear view mirror and worked fine. The screen doesn’t reflect like the a8 one where you have to fit tags inside the wing mirrors to get them to work.
Item 3 - camskill do the tyres for between 237 and 270 a corner.
Item 1 - do a bit of speed and give a couple of big stops. Used to fix it for me. I did have new pads and discs all round at 12k though as I usually drive like I stole it.

Merry Christmas humbugs all round

12k? That is good going. Just fitted first replacement pads (rear only) at just under 30k. Discs good and front pads still have 4-5mm. I don’t drive like I stole it, but don’t hang round either. No traffic jams / inner city though.

Great! Thanks for the advice!

Checked out Tyreleader and Camskill and they have reasonably priced 285’s. Does anyone think much of these new sound deadening tyres?

The tag has been installed and will be tested on an immiment trip to the Alps.

I will enjoy knocking the squeal out of the brakes! :0)))

Also just noticed a crack in the windscreen, not large but slightly odd looking.

Hopefully it is repairable as I don’t fancy the run around with Autoglass and my insurance company regarding a replacement OEM screen (given I have HUD).

If not repairable, does anyone have any lines to take re. getting an OEM screen out if the process?

Clearly my time was up as I have never has to repair / replace a windscreen before...

It's a chain driven engine, so won't have a service requirement.

I was wondering if anyone wanted to trade their set of 20 inch OEM RS6 wheels for my immaculate diamond cut 21 inch OEM RS6 rims (black)?

I need a set of winter wheels for the Alps and I am getting a new set of PE wheels with summer tyres, hence my current wheels are available.

I bought the car last week with newly refurbished 21” wheels so they are in main dealer showroom condition.

We would also need to talk about the sensors and the condition of the tyres on the respective wheels (mine have 4mm all round), so we’d have to come up with a balancing cash figure to even out the exchange - that said I’m looking for a simple transaction and accept that ultimately I am exchanging more valuable 21” wheels for a set of 20” wheels.

I’ll copy this into the classified ads too.

Cheers

Thank you. I had read a post that said so, but it didn’t specify which year of RS6.

Although not on an RS6, i needed the screen replacing twice on my F10 M5 & as it had HUD along with numerous Cameras & Sensors etc. around or connected to the windscreen area, i had no issue getting Autoglass to replace with an OEM screen. Cost difference for the BMW logo was around £850.

BMW informed me that replacing with a non OEM screen would invalidate the warranty on components connected to or relying on the windscreen. With that single point, Autoglass never wobbled & replaced with OEM.

Good point, reference to the windscreen being an integral part of other instruments sounds like a good line to take. I suspect Autoglass are happy to install any windscreen the ‘client’ pays for; I guess my focus needs to be on convincing the insurer!
