Re: Need a New Windscreen
Tried it and failed - Churchill won't cover an OEM screen - 2" crack went to a 30cm crack this morning with the cold weather!
Autoglass wanted an extra £483 to get an approved screen -(Autoglass screen costs me £15)... thought fook it, it's going before warranty runs out in March - want a PE, then will wait until someone has done the money on a new one in 3 or 4 years time,

Need a New Windscreen
Had a similar experience to Bladerider with Autoglass on my RS4. Had a number of stonechips in field of vision and was going on a driving trip through Europe so called Autoglass to fit a new screen. Notified insurers (Morethan) and paid the £25 excess.
On driving the car home the wipers started lifting off the screen so stopped and found the wiper arms had been bent and not fitted correctly. Went back next day and they had to replace the arms and blades.
Two weeks later I heard a thwack on the screen but no more than some that had hit the car before so thought nothing of it. Next morning the screen had a 3 inch crack in it from the drivers edge at the bottom.
Went back to Autoglass to report and they said they would replace but at my cost. I argued the screen could not be fit for purpose with one stonechip but they weren’t having it. Called the insurers and they now wanted £100 excess paid. I asked Autoglass and they quoted £700 if I was paying for it. Upon inspection the screen was not Saint Gobain (OEM) but was Solaglass, a subsidiary co. of the OEM manufacturer so Autoglass and insurer deemed that OK.
I decided to ring TPS and they could provide a screen for £250. Went to Audi and they wanted £450, when I said I could get the screen fr9m TPS they price matched and then charged me for an independent contractor to fit it for £300 all in as they don’t have someone in house to do glass installation
Autoglass IMO are hopeless. Worse still when my insurance renewal was due my premium had increased by £200 because as much as you pay your windscreen excess, it is record on your file as a cost and influences your renewal premium.
In future I’ll be sourcing my own OEM screen and taking it to a fitter who Audi use.
