Wagner intercooler reviews anyone?

Post by Ben_r1 » Wed Nov 29, 2017 9:08 am

Thinking of treating myself and my RS6 this Christmas to a set of wagner intercoolers, not necessarily for performance but just to tick another potential problem off the list, plus I love the carbon shroud look.

Anyone have these fitted with dyno results or real world performances?

I'd be fitting myself and looking for a 'plug and play' OE looking installation. Coming from the JDM scene I'm sick of cutting chunks out of bumpers to get uprated coolers to fit

Wagner Intercoolers are extremely well made. They generally fit nicely, on the odd car you may need to trim a little but certainly nothing major.

We are able to supply these intercoolers if you decide to go ahead.

+1 on the costs - I'd be happy to have one as well

They are very solid, but don't expect to see any performance gains. I did some before and after logging and there was no difference. Maybe if you are running big mods with big boost then you will see some gains. Still, they are a million times better than the OE ones. I didn't bother with the CF shrouds.

Same as Shop, I didn't bother with the carbon shrouds either. Just changed them for piece of mind knowing the originals will just keep failing even after repair.

Ditto re shrouds. Get their hoses too - better fit than OE

Why not bother with the shrouds if they're included? Are they a major ball ache more work to fit?

Yup, I've got em too. They're just properly made, correctly designed intercoolers, unlike the Audi ones.
Turns out that Wagner UK office is only a couple of miles from me - he hand delivered them the same day!

They were cheaper without the shrouds.

The hoses are ok but I had to trim some of mine (see my cambelt DIY for photos).

Venait used to do hoses for the RS6. They looked good when I was looking but I went for the Wagner ones in the end.

I bought mine a while ago, so things may have changed since.

Got mine hoses from Roose motorsport off the top of my head they were £220.

they have replace all the intercooler hoses plus the hose from the air box to the intakes there well made and really thick.

3 week turn around time-I’ve got standard intercoolers at the moment but I have repaired mine

I’ve just sent my Rs6 intercoolers off to Airtec for them to be disassembled and new Cores welded in and then powdercoated black and pressure tested. They reuse the original end tanks.

The finished products come with a 3 year warranty on the cores. I don’t know anyone on here who has used them however they a popular in the ford and mini scene and the products are well made.

I’ll happily post mine up when they are finished.

£599 which is over half the price of the Wagners...
