Just Released - OBD connection via Bluetooth to Smartphone

OK, so it's not going to replace VAG-COM, but if you just want to reset a DTC, this looks quite a useful tool.

EDIT - just seen the price of their bluetooth OBD connector - ouch!

Don't think they've really done their market research very well.

Quite neat but a wee expensive.

I agree, especially when vag-check for the PDA is free .... http://www.arlab.it/vc/main.html

Now if only they could make the bluetooth dongle small enough to close the rear ashtray on the S4 / RS4....

what lead do you need with this, could be good for checking fault codes on long journeys and leave the laptop at home

You can use a std PDA cradle. Mine had a serial cable and worked OK with my VAG-COM OBDII serial cable.

That's paranoia - or do you expect problems with your car on long journeys?

OBD Bluetooth Transmitter

I'll be popping up to my Audi dealership in Whetstone to try and see what it is you are referring to.

As for the price, we are working on it.....

You'll need to look at one of the older A4 models - the B5 (1995 - 2001). On these, the OBD socket is under the back seat ashtray lid at the rear of the centre console.

I pretty much always take my laptop in the car when I go on any reasonable distance...and do regular datalogging, and scan for fault codes every 14 days or so.

My rationale is, if I log lots of data when everything is ok, I've got a good reference, so will easily be able to spot when somethings not quite right by comparing sets of data....i.e. a crude form of trend monitoring.
Equally as I make improvements to my car I can see what difference they make, not just instantly but also when they settle in. etc.

I'm aware I've an element of paranoia running through me, but also, I kinda see it as common sense,
