Bit of a surprise..

Post by eliteasassin » Sun Nov 26, 2017 5:58 am

Hey people, this is one of my first real posts on here and I guess it's an important topic. For me anyways.

I bought my RS6 about a month ago, it's clean, low mileage etc etc.. On the rear and inside were 'Digital Speed' Stickers. I didn't know much about Digital speed at all but a quick search revealed they tune/map ECU's. I checked their website and they offer a 525hp re-map and transmission ECU flash.

I've been wondering if it had been tuned since the market is so small out here for this kinda car and Digital Speed is a small name here too. It seems odd to randomly put a few Stickers on the old girl for kicks.

Yesterday I went to see a Digital Speed dealer. They checked the car out for me and it was tuned 30,000kms ago. It's worrying because the tune wasn't the 525hp they offer these days on the website. The mechanic told me it had a 550hp map, plugs and engine/mission oils changed too.

Quite frankly that scares the heck outta me! Of course, god knows what kinda power she actually has but that kinda map sounds a bit much. As for now there aren't any problems with the car, seems solid. <beep> balls!

No way you're getting more than 515-520 without at least decatting.

Never heard of digital speed. Where are you? US?

I'm in Japan mate..

I've attached a pic of the figures they claim to give. Apparently Digital Speed is a German company. There's a few blogs from owners out here who have had the supposed 75hp power increase to 525hp that they offer. No idea why I got told 550.

As far as I'm aware I have no other modifications but I'm intrigued now and want to get under the car.

Something is not right, thats for sure.

Find out exactly what they did 30000km ago. If in doubt you can always get a safe Viper map to install remotely. That'll give you around 500bhp.

So are you experiencing any kind of problem? Or are you just curious to know what's installed on your car?

I bet you don't see many RS6 in Japan. How come it's a left hooker?

I'm gonna call them tomorrow and double check.

Yeah they are all LHD here, not a single RHD. I've never seen another in my 9 years living here. That's why I like it :)

There are no issues at the minute but it's about to hit 60k on the clock so I'm sure there will be a list of things to do lol.

Yup. Alternator for a start. Rule 42.

What's it like living in Japan? What's your nationality? I think I'd like it there.

Alternator.. I'll check the prices and availability. Cheers.

Pricing is kinda why I'm interested to know what's been done to this car. If it goes wrong, it's costly. Double what you boys pay in UK for sure.

Living in Japan is difficult. I can't recommend lol.

I'm British, where are you from?

I've had a few guys live over there for a year and a half or so - they loved it, but were ready to come home after that time..

How to do you get the Viper remap done remotely?

He can supply a map on a obd2 programmer. You have to send him your TCU for modding though.
