I did something similar. Sold my C7 rs6 over a year ago and moved to an 8P RS3, not my cup of tea. Bought a new S3 saloon great wee car but just not me. Now in a new S7 black edition and I have got to say its a fantastic car, if you have read my other posts re my new cars I am usually the first to point out the negatives in my new car. Other than being a bit slow (easy fix) and loves eating fuel (not an easy fix

) I really cant fault it. massive discounts available and they are not 10 a penny

BMW 540i
2018 GTR
F90 M5
X3MC
RS3 Saloon
RS7 FL best car I've owned. No faith in turbo oil screen (turbos failing) or sticking oil scraper ring causing missfires.
F10 M5 LCI still no rear grip lol
S7 black Edition Too big and heavy
S3 8V FL DSG 310ps, road noise is a joke
RS3 8P Rubbish
C7 RS6 Fantastic car but missed playing
GTR R35 800bhp, too extreme, crazy fast though
911 Turbo Remapped. Hated it
F10 M5, awesome but no rear grip
RS6 V10 700BHP crazy
Porsche Cayenne Turbo S 600bhp

Wanted something different after the RS6 and have never owned a Merc. Having had M, Alpina & Audi RS it's time to sample what AMG are like. On the B roads the A45 is going to be pretty lively and the road holding is very good. Hard to break away from V8 power but this is a very good alternative.

Just don't expect rock solid build quality like mercs of yore or audis of today - my old 190e felt like it had been built from stone

I don't think any car maker builds rock solid reliable cars anymore. Older German cars weighed about the same as the moon (I did an defensive driving courses in late 90's S Classes and they could take a right hammering and were solidly built-Parisen tunnel pillars notwithstanding) but today it's all lighter chassis and materials and more economy.

I've gone the opposite way (A45 to RS6). The A45 really needs a map to liven it up. MSL or Renntech are the standout places for a decent map. I ran mine with cup 2 tyres which sorted out the understeer. 40mpg with a light foot, sub 4secs to 60 and sub 9 to 100 (with a map).

Perhaps with Merc - who went backwards in the early 2000s - but most manufacturers are producing bigger, heavier, stronger and more rigid cars today. C7 300kg heavier than 90s C4. My daughter's GTI is nearly 500kg heavier than my first one I had and light years ahead in build quality.

Pedestrian = 10 points for GB (they look the right way and realise we don't stop for them)
Tourist Pedestrian = 2 points (see above + attitude)
Sui-cyclist = 20 points for a knock over, 30 points for a knock out.
Lorry on foreign plates = 50 points for a swerve avoidance and no scratches.
Four wheel iPad charger doing 10 mph to extend its range = 200 points for a rear ender push
It's only fair that we should be allowed to fight back.

They asked if I was interested in leading the UKIP however I think I blew the interview when I said my role models were Vlad the impaler, Pol Pot and Genghis Kahn. I don't see the issue.

Being 'slighty to the right of Genghis Khan' shouldn't be seen as a minus point in life -quite the opposite in fact
