yeah needed 500hp minimum, like AMG and Alfa. Especially with RS4s being quatro. BMW can get away with 450 with their hard core track focus until new M3 next year. Audi can't.

Audi don't seem that bothered about selling RS4s. It's been 2 years or so without a model at all and now this.

Politics aside, the point being the price "hike" is just FX.

I wonder what the tuners will get out of it once they get their hands on one? 500? 550??

The m5 is 39% more expensive than the current rs4, of course its a "better" package. The current m3 competition is £59500, without spec and a similar power figure as the rs4...that is a more relevant comparison...so a car platform that has been around for 3+ years is only c. £1.5k less than the yet to be available b9 rs4. I dont think the price is really that far out from where it should be.

I get that but any decent RS4 will be basically £80k list. That was the point. Audi always have the biggest void between list price and actual price once essential extras are added.

I mean to have to spec folding mirrors on any 60k+ car is a joke and then to have to spend thousands on sports exhaust, suspension and steering on an RS model is a bit of a blow.

Electric folding mirrors are standard?

https://www.audi.co.uk/content/dam/audi ... celist.pdf

I guess I'm the only person on RS246 who prefers the 19s......

EDIT 23rd Sept - okay, I failed to realise there are two designs of 20", just like the B8, but the PDF doesn't make this clear and reads like there is one design either silver or black. So the 19s I thought I was looking at are actually 20s. Cheers to KMPowell for clarifying! I'll get my coat....

Yes sorry they are, tinted and memory is what i had to spec looking at the rs5 i built. I still had to add 18k of stuff to make it like my B8 that used tech from 2012 though

The M3 base price is £64,225 and not £59K. Isn't the correct comparison the 450hp Comp Pack with DCT
I read RS4 base price is £61,625

An RS4 holds residual value better which should be factored in to cost of ownership.

RS4 looks better value than M3 which is NOT what I expected as I regard the RS4 as a more exclusive vehicle

I'd also add that the M3 is not a comfortable machine to get from A-B in. The seats are uncomfortable, the road noise is excessive, and its slower.

Edit - It does sound absolutely fantastic though.
