Warming to it, but they have forgotten how to design cars.

The above shows it on the move and apart from the wheels and engine note it looks surprisingly good seeing how dire the RS5 looks.

I like it. Wheels aren't the best though

I wonder when they will release a "Plus/Performance" model. Surely that will closer to 500 bhp, and a better standard spec that will be better vfm. Hopefully a change of wheel design too.
2015 RS4- Nogari Blue, with buckets and Milltek
Ariel Atom 4 with carbon Wings😀. But a little bit scary.

Wheels are minging, and rear bumper is too fussy IMO. I like the front end though, and I reckon arches are OK

Nothing a drop, map, zorst and wheels won't fix.

Will need a massive dealer discount to sell though! £80k!?

I don't think RS4's ever sell in big numbers. Audi seem content with that.

From what I remember from the launch of the 4 and 5 last year , the 4 was cheaper in the first place and then also had very good value packs that made the options more reasonable and therefore the car not as expensive as expected with the right options.

Be interesting to see how this pans out

I had the 5 all weekend and I have to say it was better than expected and although I've not driven a new 63 it is better IMO than the other cars in the class.

I could be up for one but won't be an early adopter this time

Just read in a couple of places like auto express and carscoops - U.K. Starting price around £60-£65k. With a few options (I would deffo leave drc alone now!) could be a £65-68k car. Pretty reasonable given most b8s went for £60k new with sports pack and a few extras. I do wonder give £1=€1 these days if it could be that cheap though, otherwise there'll be a reverse of continental Europeans ordering lhd versions through U.K. Dealers like what happened in the 90s other way around

Here's the spec I received from my local dealer

All-new RS 4 Avant unveiled at Frankfurt motor show
AU0802-17
12 SEP 2017
Iconic, all-new Audi RS 4 has been unveiled to the world press at the Frankfurt motor show:
• 2.9 TFSI V6 biturbo produces 450 PS and 600Nm of torque, 0-62mph in 4.1 seconds
• Up to 80kg lighter and 17 per cent more efficient than previous generation
• Standard UK specification in line with RS 5 Coupé, including Virtual Cockpit and sport differential
• First deliveries due January 2018
• Available to order on SLi from mid-September at £61,625 on the road (OTR)

Design
The design of the fourth-generation Audi RS 4 Avant is inspired by the Audi 90 quattro IMSA GTO. Massive air inlets with RS honeycomb structure and the wide, flat, single-frame grille define the front end of the car. Its wheel arches are 30 millimetres wider than those on the A4 Avant, and are given added emphasis by the quattro blisters.
The RS-specific diffuser insert, oval tailpipes of the RS exhaust system and the RS roof edge spoiler make for a distinctive look at the rear end. It gets an all-new optional exterior colour from Audi exclusive: Nogaro blue pearl effect, which recalls the first-generation of the high-performance Avant that broke cover back in 1999.
The all-new Audi RS 4 Avant rides on 19-inch forged aluminium wheels as standard, with optional 20-inch wheels as an alternative.

Engine, power and comfort
The new model’s V6 bi-turbo develops 450PS of power. Its peak torque of 600Nm, which is 170Nm more than the previous model, is available across a broad engine speed range from 1,900 to 5,000rpm. This enables the Audi RS 4 to sprint from 0 to 62mph in just 4.1 seconds. It has a top speed of 155mph with an option to increase this to 174mph.
The 2.9 TFSI bi-turbo engine powers the permanent all-wheel drive through an eight-speed tiptronic gearbox with optimised ratios. The model’s rear sport differential enables torque division between the rear wheels is standard in the UK, for enhanced handling.
In the combined cycle test the RS 4 Avant is able to return up to 32.1mpg (199 grams of CO2 per kilometre) - an efficiency gain of 17 per cent over the previous model. The new Audi RS 4 Avant weighs 1,790 kilograms, which is 80 kilograms (176lb) less than its predecessor.

UK specification
The RS 4 Avant will be available from launch with a high level of standard specification in line with the recently-launched RS 5 Coupé. This includes:
• 19-inch alloy wheels
• LED front and rear lights with dynamic rear indicators
• Super Sport seats in Fine Nappa leather with pneumatic massage function
• MMI Touch Navigation Plus
• RS-specific Virtual Cockpit
• Flat-bottom steering wheel
• Parking system Plus
• Audi Sport Differential
• Auto-folding heated mirrors
• Hill hold assist
• Audi side assist
• Powered rear tailgate (RS 4 only)

Ordering, price lists and website
The all-new RS 4 Avant will open for ordering during the middle of September, with OTR prices starting at £61,625.
The price list and SLi will be updated when RS 4 opens for ordering. The configurator will be live in early November.
Any orders placed on SLi will remain on the waitlist until early December, at which point they will be released to the factory and you will then see a build week against the order. Please do not quote customer handover dates until a build week has been confirmed on SLi.

Dates for your diary
• World premiere: 12 September 2017
• Open for ordering: on SLi mid-September 2017
• Market introduction: late January 2018 (further information on MI cars will be added to Hub nearer the time)
• First customer deliveries: March 2018

This is where the pricing model is just plain wrong. That's residuals already battered.

7% off the bat is daft, though equally not enough to make it even a vaguely attractive proposition.

Why can't they just price realistically?!

To be fair to the dealer I put all my fleet business through them and I've just had a massive issue with my RS6 and told them I wouldn't do any business with them again so they are trying to keep me as a customer. Is 7% good as I didn't think it was a particularly strong discount?

So pretty much the same price as the base RS5. I think we can take it as read that the options pricing will be the same on the 4 as they are the 5. So...

£2k for DRC, £2k for wheels, £1200 for sports exhaust, £650 for paint, £1000 for a styling pack, £1200 for comfort and sound pack etc etc. Making it a £70k+ car all day long, if you want a decent spec.

As per my earlier post, this was not the case with the equivalent B8s

Its not bad on a halo model that is going to be in demand with a waiting list and zero support from Audi!

£1200 for sport exhaust.... f*ck me, £1200 for them to give you less exhaust by replacing a centre box with straight pipes
