Listers Audi "Car Care Plan" (for cars upto 5yrs o

Post by Zen » Fri Sep 16, 2005 10:45 am

Listers have quoted £599 (12 months), £899 (2 yrs) and £1295 for a 3yr warranty. This is not an Audi warranty but a third pary called Car Care Plan who Listers have apparently been using for 6-7 months. Initially they charge £115 for a 110-point inspection.

On the face of it this seems very very good, although I haven't seen the policy docs. I know that some 3rd party warranties are pretty useless but I have been told that Listers would themselves liaise directly with the warranty provider in the event of a claim. In doing so they're putting their own reputation on the line. I've been using Listers (Coventry) for some time and have to say that they're pretty good.

Anyone have any knowledge/experience of this warranty? My car is coming up to its 5th birthday next week so I need to make a quick decision. After 5yrs are up, only a Listed Parts type warranty will be available.

Sounds good....... but does the work have be carried out at Listers, or can it be any Audi dealership?

Work can be carried out at other dealerships (or 'reputable repairer') but they must follow the Listers claims procedure. Warranty will cover up to manufacturer's list price for parts. Labour rates will be reimbursed as per the repairer's rates but the claimed time to carry out the repair will be limited to manufacturer's recommended repair times. The labour rate and time taken by other dealerships will presumably be the same as Listers.

You can buy an audi warranty for any audi. The dealer carries out his check first they will then gladly let you buy a warranty for it.

Used to sell Car Care Plan when I worked for a specialist dealer, can't fault them, never caused any problems even if a claim was made. It sounds rather expensive for an unofficial warranty though.

Is it that expensive though? Given that you can get a three year policy for nearly the same price as one from mondial?

I think 400 quid a year for virtually eliminating the risk of major maintenance cost is a reasonable outlay. What I particularly liked about this was that Listers will manage/administer the claim themselves. On past experience I'm not very efficient at paying up front and then claiming off the warranty provider later... just don't have time for the paperwork. Also I won't be expected to make up the difference in labour rates because Listers' repair times will presumably match the manufacturer's.
